Treasure chests across the board seem to have a % chance to drop any item - so it seems, probably incredibly low. Speculation would say that similar to Mats the higher the tier the higher star the item it could be.
I mean there really isn't enough information on rare drops to know for sure. But it seems that these rare items - Blackened Crest - Magikat Hat - Quicksilver Mail/Helm seem to only drop out of chests - and extremely rarely at that, probably from T2 and up.
And I agree I have been saying for a while we need rare mobs with cool rare drops - and an expansion on rare weapons and armor.

A more fitting title for it to describe the pain and suffering players have gone through while hunting for this shield.
With but one clue from the wiki; "Blackened Crest is a rare drop from treasure boxes." this is all we have to go on.
Now, what I want to know here is whether or not this find was actually true and if more have been found since then.
I would also like to see how long it will take for the next find to show up.
I can understand a longing for an item to be rare, but when it proceeds to become a legendary item which is as likely for you to find as being struck by lightning, don't you think that it's a bit much?
From what this thread has shown us, it will take both intense dedication to the game as well as a crap load of luck to actually obtain this exclusive item.
If the game has been out for two months, and it takes this long to find the first sample, should we call for a data-alter? I'm not sure what to think of this myself, as I would need some more information in regards to what I requested previously in this post.

Blackened Crest provides only one chance at gaining a UV.
Skelly has a 2* start, and provides more Shadow defense at the cost of Normal.
As an item, the Blackened Crest is "meh" - as a collector's item, it's amazing. The drop rate is fine where it is, imo, and provides content for those that can spare endless runs in the Clockworks.

Not too fussed.
I don't really care all that much for UVs. Sure, there are great UVs to get, but I won't go out of my way to mass-produce for one certain UV with "Maximum!" increase in whatever it is. They are nice to come across, but personally I don't feel like busting all my energy provisions to get them.
I personally think that the Crest of Almire is a decent shield, and something I'd rather have than a DSS.

Oh, I should probably give you guys an update.
I was never able to meet Vishnalo. We've been unable to set up a time that ends up following through. We've had each other as Friends; but I play like maybe once a week, and I'm unsure how much he plays, but it wasn't much as I steadily decreased in activity.
For all I know, it's still unobtainable. I'm removing that 5K CE offer (It's still Vishnalo's if we can manage to follow through on a scheduled time), however. I just don't care enough anymore. Unless that wiki editor confirmed with Vishnalo that he had the crest, I'd suggest removing that part of the wiki.

Did you send a mail to plan out time schedules? Just having him as a friend is as vague as him telling you "I still play the game," it won't help you meet up. And if you did, did you meet up to have him never showing up? If that's the case he's either very unreliable or simply photoshopped that image. If not, then try plan out when you guys know you have time and won't be pre-occupied with other things. The more this is prolonged the more I'm starting to believe that he's faking it, which is really unfair to his reputation if he isn't.
Moreover, I think the developers should fix the drop rate for the shield and generally overhaul the entire item-from-treasure-boxes concept rather than teasing us with a next-to-impossible-to-get shield that appears to a player once in a blue moon.

I'll send him a mail and request to meet up. I'll tell you if I manage to get in contact with him and if his claims are indeed true.
So not only does he get a nice rare shield that he can sell for a ton if he wants but he gets 5k CE on top of it, lucky, lucky.
Now I just need to see some sort of kat hat in game, and I'll be happy.
