Mad Bomber Suit vs. Volcanic Demo Suit
I'm really stuck between these two suits just because my bombs have UVs that aren't low CTR. Whatever armor I choose I'll be using the volcanic demo helm for its medium CTR and a low fire resist UV.
Mad Bomber sounds really tempting to have faster bombs and more damage, but those status reductions are quite iffy. I consider myself fairly good at not getting hit but still, I dunno if this is wise. So with Mad Bomber, I'll have max CTR, but with Volcanic demo I'll be one CTR short but better defended.
I guess basically what I want to know, does the medium damage increase actually make a difference? Any ideas how much more? That and any other considerations I should think about?
(Note that the bombs I primarily use at the moment are Master Blast Bomb, Ionized Salt Bomb, and Toxic Vaporizer MK II)
If you use bombs only, can rely on good teams and your teammates don't mind scratching you from the flloor a lot, mad bomber is the right one for you. It's definitely easier to control crowds, stack status effects + deal damage at the same time with mad bomber. The short charge time on all bombs can be lifesaving or "teamsaving" in many situations and on very rare occasion your teammates might even "complain" that they have nothing to do except collecting coins & mats. Just you need to be prepared to die on every second misstep and try to make as few as possible. You need to keep an eye on total team hp, what your actions do to it over the course of the run and decide wisely when to take a step back and wait in a corner while your teammates deal with a situation without you - or if it's a good idea to die in the middle of the fight to leave behind a tactical bomb or two. Being shocked often means the monster gets to hit you again and again until your teammates intervene. And fire means more or less, you're living on borrowed time. Give all the healing capsules to your teammates right away: using them yourself just means you'll be burning a little bit longer ;).
That damage increase might add ~10 damage.
You'll have to test it to be sure. Remember that, as a set, Mad Bomber gives a Very High bonus. And remember that it allows you throw out CTR UVs completely and go for even more damage instead.
Safe and practical: Volcanic
Incredibly awesome: Mad Bomber
mad bomber suit is a better option than volcanic if you play in parties.
you gain a +2 damage and +1 CTR for the loss of status effects
I run with a Heavy Demo Helm + Mad Bomber Suit right now and the status effects don't really bother me. If you go into fire, freeze or shock areas, just be a bit more careful and don't get hit :) Being poisoned for a few more seconds... hardly noticeable.
Also, if you get a 5* trinket it will completely undo the status effect penalty. For example, if I use my Sizzling Hearthstone Pendant then my freezing status resistance goes to zero. I don't get any extra protection from freezing, but there is now no penalty either. I guess that when wearing the helm and suit you'd need two trinkets to cancel the status effect penalty.
Most of my bombs are UV CTR Medium, so the CTR bonus on the Mad Bomber in my case is overkill and thus wasted. I enjoy having the damage bonus though, I have yet to systematically test its effect on damage output however.

Are you sure about the overkill part? You know the Charge Time Reduction from your gear stacks with your weapons?

You only need 3 Mediums to hit the CTR cap (6 levels).
Once he gets the 5 star helmet, he will have 8 levels, meaning the UV will be unnecessary.
Or, in other words, overkill.
Ahh thanks for enlightening me, Shoebox. :)
I think Mad Bomber alone and the ones that bombs get at lvl 10 added already gives you maximum. No way to still make it faster?
Not sure if the same thing applies to bonus damage. Do specific damage boni ("to gremlin" or something) still apply while generic ones (of the type the armor already gives) are already at max? I've been told, mad bomber is useless if you plan to invest in good uv bombs - is there something to that?
edit: oops, slowest post ever. Thanks for the answers!
edit2: wait, does that mean noone "needs" the full mad bomber set IF his bombs are all @lvl10?

@ufna: The levels I was referring to are the respective values of the bonuses in question.
Each quality level for a bonus, from low to maximum, has a separate value not related to the bonus itself to determine effective stacking.
So, since medium is the equivalent to two levels, with the cap being six levels, you would only need three medium bonuses to reach maximum Charge Time Reduction.
As for any questions referring to armour.
Since the Volcanic Demo Suit only offers a Low Charge Time Reduction bonus, the best bomber set would be Volcanic Demo Helm (which has a Medium Bonus) with a Mad Bomber Suit, to get positive Fire Resistance, Very High Charge Time Reduction (Maximum with a level 5+ Bomb) and some additional damage for a weakness to a few minor statuses.
Although the Low Bonus on the Volcanic Demo Suit could just be a bug or a tooltip error, I would still recommend this or a similar set-up because it is just defensive enough to be feasible in Tier 3.
Wow didn't expect to wake up and see this many replies. Cool thanks guys. Some more details I should have put in. Yes I do parties around 90% of the time and yes I am a dual bomber.
Medium damage increase is about 10? Hmm maybe not as great as I was hoping. Well from reading what's been said so far I'm about 70% leaning towards mad bomber suit.
@Shoebox: That remaining 30% is as a result of you saying pairing volcanic helm with mad bomber suit is the best bomber set but then ending your argument with recommending the volcanic suit instead lol.

I have both sets. With few exceptions, I will run full mad bomber for T2 and first half of T3. After clockworks @ T3 I will either switch to a mix, continue using full mad bomber, or go full volcanic demo depending on the gate construction.
Get friendly with remedy pills and learn to avoid T3 shock stratums when wearing full mad bomber and you'll be fine. W/ full set at D25+ I'm doing something like 230 dmg instead of high 190's. You'll definitely want a damage bomb if you go this route to maximize its benefits though.
Is there a way to make up for the status vulnerabilities through shields? Like if you wore half Volcanic half Mad Bomber (Mad helm, it's wicked) and say, the Skelly line of shields to cover up your poison and freeze? Sure it would leave the worst, shock, still open, but still.
Not really since the shield status protection is only active when the shield is up. So if you have a skelly shield and get hit by freeze when the shield is down, the status will affect you based on your armor's status protection. You want to equip a shield based on what you think is going to be problematic rather than trying to cover your armor's deficiencies.
@eek5 wow that's some great damage you've got going there. Very encouraging...

@Eek5 - what bombs are you running on T3 ?

Gerbil-
It depends on the gate but I run ash/shiver/nitro for most gates or ash/shiver/nitro/veiler if i'm doing a bomb only set. If there is flame arena sometimes I'll drop the ash or nitronome out for a veiler since it makes the arena a bit faster than using ash of agni. My main solo bombs are ash and nitro though

so no irontech destroyer ? I hear that's better than nitro. I'm trying to resolve this. The only way i know is to craft both.
Irontech is slower than Nitronome.
It'll slow you down like Graviton and the explosion takes longer to trigger, so its not very spam friendly.
But it's real powerful and sometimes all you need is a few good powerful attacks.
I don't know how Big Angry Bomb compares to the two though.
That damage increase might add ~10 damage.
If you're planning to be a bomber/ranged+bomber, you might be able to effectively use the Mad Bomber gear with less worry of the downsides.
If you're getting in close with a non large-knockback sword, or are doing/planning to do Vanaduke a lot, then go with Volcanic Demo.
