I asked this in somewhere else a somewhat off-topic manner, no answer. Oh well. I was just wondering if we could change the games BGM files. Nothing personal Harry, I like your music, I just like variety more.

Atm I just turn the BGM down and stream music off youtube. Kinda adds lag in LD though.

Section 6 subsection 13 of

Section 6 subsection 13 of the license. Silence the music in-game and use a separate media player of your choice.

Open the SK resource file,

Open the SK resource file, then open the music folder.

Change it. You will probably need to backup your original SK music.

I'm really surprised to hear this...

@Myqpalzm: You completely missed the point.

Haha Myq. I respect your rebelious spirit.

I play SDGO and Quake generaly. Quake, nobody cares what you do. It's got a... unique community. SDGO is actualy had issues with people changing other game files, but they say music is o-k.

It's possible to do, but since OOO frowns upon telling people how to look under the hood of their Spiral Knights directories, I'm not going to give specifics.

"OOO frowns upon telling

"OOO frowns upon telling people how to look under the hood of their Spiral Knights directories" is kind of like saying "don't do it" but without having to say "if you do it you'll get in trouble". Their stance has always been to keep things vanilla.

So, with that being said, if you choose to forego that warning and alter files anyway, do so at your own risk.

Irthan was giving me sections

Irthan was giving me sections and numbers. Not sure if it's vanilla or legit. Eirhet way, I just got these NEC speakers that are older than I am. Not going to touch my dads because the wire for them is wider than my finger. Spensive'

As someone else said,

As someone else said, \rsrc\sound\music. Just change the music files names when you're putting them in, etc etc.

And as for permission, I don't think you'll get any. But this is such a small, and 0-gameplay changing effect, I don't think anyone would get into trouble. Been doing it for the past couple of years, just fine. Just note, each patch they will replace your music files with the correct ones, so I suggest creating a separate folder with the new music files you want, and copy from there (not move) after each patch to make your life easier. (Batch files make life easier~)

And I understand completely what you mean, I usually change every MMO's game music after a year or so because it gets old. New music refreshes a game experience and puts players in a new light, in the same environment. :0

Wouldn't it just be easier to mute the music and have a playlist or something running in the background?

I'm sorry, but I gotta call

I'm sorry, but I gotta call you out on the gameplay thing. You even refute it in your own last paragraph.

And beyond that, it's also to reduce harassment from overly-neurotic aunts complaining to OOO about "the swear words in the background music".
