Everyone likes sales. i'm sure everyone buying CE today is very happy that they'll get an extra 15% energy and extra prize boxes. However, OOO kind of slow rolled the energy bonus and anybody who purchased CE before today missed out on the awesome double sale. OOO should send players who purchased energy before today but still during winterfest the 15% bonus energy and extra prize boxes. It's what impostoclaus would do. Glorp! Glorp!

Sorry, but those are the rules....that i just made up...

You don't get a discount on clothes you bought a day before a clothes sale at a shop. Eat it.

So you can bring the clothes back and they give you a refund? WTF?

Well internet is different. I don't hear people whining about buying something the day before it went on a Steam Sale.

There's a difference between the online stores and physical stores.

Physical stores will give you the exchange back - why wouldn't they? You could just return it and buy it again which would be more trouble for them.

Online stores won't - why would they? They have a no-return policy due to the nature of their merchandise.

The exact same 'issue' happeend last year. Maybe you should do some research. This was expected.

Winterfest starts early to farm tokens, get in the mood and all. But they don't want to pull a month-long promo.
It's not an evil plan or a missunderstanding, it's bussiness.

I don't think last years sale on the

Lats years sale on the explorer's pack isn't really the same thing. OOO Came out with a new product at a sale price just liek they came out with OCH on sale. The 15% energy boost and the winterfest promo rolling at the same time means that people had been waiting for a promo to buy energy and then winterfest promo occured and gave you prize boxes with CE, which was a good deal so people purchased it. The 15% bonus energy isn't an additional new product. OOO should consider mailing players who purchased energy during winterfest the 15% extra energy they would have gotten had they waited until Wednesday. It's good customer service.

I fail to see how it's good

I fail to see how it's good customer service to provide additional incentive for players who are on the fence about buying CE and give players who bought in earlier an additional reward - they've already satisfied the first batch of people who threw money in for the boxes. The real issue is that they probably weren't seeing the figures they wanted to turn over this holiday season despite the sale. So they added an additional energy boost to try and sweeten the pot, which worked enough to at least get me to buy CE.

So no, it's not good customer service to mail people retroactively with CE that they really aren't expecting - in fact, that's BAD customer service if only because from a public perspective, that's the business equivalent to admitting they made a mistake, which they didn't do. What they did was a good marketing tactic to try and match projected numbers for end-of-year CE purchases. I'm not saying there's a reason why they shouldn't have had the foresight to just do that from the beginning, but your idea just doesn't work out in the long run from a PR perspective.
