That being said, 1st off, my firewall doesn't like to download the game, it took me about an hour or more of trying to figure that one out (yeah I know it's sad lol but in my defense I was at work remote connecting into the computer lol).

Now that I am in and playing, it seems like every 5 seconds I hit a lag spike. I am in the USA, and it never used to be like this when I used to play daily for hours a day.

Can anyone tell me what has changed? How can I correct this lag? I have a DL speed of about 7mb/s and up of about 600kb/s so it can't be me. I mean I stream TV without any issues even in HD with no issues.

So can someone help me out here? I wanna get back into it, but I can't with this awful lag spiking every 5 steps.

First of all welcome back and secondly as of the past several months the player base has increased and thus the lag,the internet connection is fine but as there are more players in the game so more lag.

So have they talked about any plans to fix the lag issue?

I don't see much has changed in prices in game for recipes or items, even energy:crown has remained the same.

You're lucky you weren't here a month or two earlier then, CE was at 9K a pop.

I'm not sure what's up with all the recent lag, but if it's a issue with the Servers or Clients, it'll be fixed. If it's a Latency problem, we need moar servers.

network or computer?

Is it your network speed or your computer speed? It's possible that there have been enough changes to the code to slow down your machine in certain situations. Try lower graphics settings, etc. Also try to pinpoint which levels give you lag. For example, IMF and FSC give lots of people lag.

AFAIK

They added some connections option

You can choose to connect by IP, US server or EU server.

I mostly go by IP... Try changing it? Some of my friends has to go US and others EU and after some tweak here and there we get no lags anymore

This is a newer computer than the one I used to play on, a lot more horse power under the hood, so I know it's not the machine having issues, and the lag happens on all level from Haven, to inside the Clockworks.

Thanks for the suggestion, I found that while poking around, tried changing it to USA, didn't help :( Good thought though!

I guess we are all in the same boat, and glad I am not alone, especially when I start dying against VD lol

Lag is not the same as latency. Lag has developed a meaning in society to represent the "inexplicable spikes of unresponsiveness from a character (or computer itself) that is detrimental to play".

Latency just means that it takes longer for things you do to be registered on the server. Being an australian, my latency is horrible, but it stays stable at that rate, it doesn't get any better or horribler. If it got horribler, then I would call that "lag".

you might want to try this...

First of all, don't worry.
This type of bugs usually go away in a couple of weeks.
Second, you can try sending a bug report by pressing f2 and the gamemaster's will take a look at it .
