I'm always annoyed when some guy at the Auction House yells something out with abbreviations and I might want to buy it, but I have no idea what they're saying.

Example:

"Selling BTB 3max UVs ASI, CTR, API! PM me for price!"

I am lost, can someone help me?

You must mean the abbreviations, in which case you should take a look at this wiki page.

Different people will tell you different things for what PM stands for, but it means "send a /tell"

It'd be more annoying (and immpossible with so many messages going on screen fast) to read wall of texts like this:

Selling Barbarous Thorn Blade with 3 maximun Unqiue Variants: Attack speed Increase, Charge Time Reduction and Damage bonus vs fiends! Send me a message for the price!

You get used to 'em

as a general rule of thumb, if you can't understand something like that, it'll be WAAAY out of your price range. The exceptions are the "WTB, WTS, and WTT" stuff, which respectively mean "Willing to buy, Willing to sell, and Willing to trade"

If anyone's telling you they rolled maxes on a sword, it's a bunch of balls.
The maximum you can roll as an UV on a weapon is Very High, only protective equipments get Max! UVs.
Although, I will admit, it's possible to add to those UVs by boosting them with offensive equipments, such as a Swiftstrike Buckler.

As for the rest of the abbreviations, you'll pick it up as you go along. And if you're not sure what they mean, you can always ask!

(Also, you should always get a price check in forums before you sell anything with a UV of Low or above for Charge Time Reduction/Attack Speed Increase bonuses, and anything with a UV of Medium of above in general. Such things may be worth more - or less - than you think, and there are often collectors for certain things that you might think to be fairly worthless, like Flourishes with Very High vs. Slimes.)

Abbreviations

The most common abbreviations, I believe, are: ASI, CTR, and UV. These mean Attack Speed Increase, Charge Time reduction, and Unique Variant, respectively. Traevelliath is right, in some respects, about using your understanding of the item the person is selling as a rule of thumb for whether or not you can afford the item. Truth be told, unless you're T3ing it up with the pros in Lock Down, I wouldn't be all the worried about UV's. They aren't at all necessary to play the game.

Thank You!

Thank You, very much!

Another thing i forgot to mention: I'm 4*, not a noob. Should this be in the New Recruits forum?

Another Another thing: @Aureate You mentioned something about asking how much is uvs good against. Great, because I have this weird hot edge that is:
Attack speed increased: low
Damage vs. Undead: low
Damage vs. slime: low

How much do you think it's worth?

It's a 1* hot edge. They are all lows. It's worth nothing.

That Hot Edge won't be worth very much.
There are certain people who pay a great deal for good UVs on 1* weapons for playing t1 Lockdown, but they are looking for ASI/CTR High/Very High. They won't really want to fork out extra cash for something that has damage bonus UVs, since these have no function in LD. You might possibly be able to get a couple of thousand cr for it.
