An area dedicated to relaxing and having a nice chat or little game could be a nice addition. Now, I say a cafe because I could see some interactive aspect of the area through it like ordering an item off of a menu, finding a place to sit, and enjoy whatever you got. Other players can join you and have a chat. The purpose of the cafe would be just an area to chill, have a chat, even role play. The mini-game part would be for playing small games that involve doing a simple task. Some of them could be multi-player and they could give a small prize at the end(small amount of crown, a mat, some ME?). If anyone wants to add anything have at it. Lets hear those ideas.

I'd like some minigames that cost a few Crowns, with even a game like Bingo or something where there could be a small Crown prize offered.

No. But I would like to have

No.

But I would like to have an in-game minigame that players can gamble crowns with. Maybe some variant of Blackjack, like what KOTOR did with Pazaak. Or maybe an in-game TCG using semi-rare monster drop cards. Obviously if we go with the TCG option, players should be allowed to buy a "Starter Deck" for crowns or energy or whatever so players don't have to go around collecting cards for two months before they have a full deck and can play with people.

Oh, I'd love to have a cafe

Oh, I'd love to have a cafe area for roleplaying. Put up a stage that resembles an open mic for the cafe, and encourage knights to do their best stand-up routine. Toss in some minigames for the more recalcitrant players to play, and doubtless you'll melt their hearts and get them to give in to RP'ing.

Gambling makes for a great crown sink, if you structure it so that multiple players put in the pot and the payout is less than the sum of what went in (but one player gets significantly more than he/she paid). It's kind of scary shallow content, though, in that you'll doubtless see players blowing absurd amounts of money on something guaranteed to lose them crowns in the long run. But, crownsink!

This isn't Second Life and I

This isn't Second Life and I don't support the idea of turning this game into a replacement for a social life. You can roleplay as much as you want but the day this game caters to role-playing is the day I become a sad and bitter man, and possibly quit the game.

I want this game to evolve more towards the direction of an Action/RPG, not an Avatar-based chat. This isn't Gaia Online or Maple Story. This is a real game.

Dude, there's a very simple solution to your problem: don't role play. Nobody's forcing you to do it. Why is it that the moment someone wants to add something into an online game that involves social skills that some hardcore gamer comes along and shoots it down for that reason? I do realize that there is no way to please everyone, but if one group isn't having fun, what's the point? As a respectable gamer, I try to come up with ideas that benefit the whole gaming community, not just one group. If you want more dungeon crawling, why not come up with an idea for that. Try to help this game grow, not control it.

A Knight In an Inn

Catering to role playing by adding a role playing zone doesn't force you to participate, just like having an energy exchange doesn't force me to buy or cell CE.

I'm not sure I specifically like the cafe idea, but a game room of some sort, perhaps akin to Puzzle Pirates' inns with a mix of classic and novel 2-4 player games, could be a nice addition. Knight-themed games could be fun. More opportunities to interact with others during games could also get people chatting more and building friendships in ways that are not really possible in the frantic shooting and slashing in the dungeons. Friendships with other players often keep people in the game longer than they otherwise would play, which is good for the longevity of the game as well as OOO's bottom line.

I'm not sure the game needs this, but I think the idea has merit if the developers think it fits with their vision of the Spiral Knights universe. (Knights must go somewhere in Haven to relax after a long day gather crystals in the dungeons, right?)
