So I had a thought. What if there was a new set of trinkets that could give your attacks a chance to cause a status effect, or a secondary status if the weapon already has one? They could work similar to how the health trinkets do, ranking from 1 Star to 5 Star. The strength of the status and its chance of occurring would increase as rank of the trinket increases. They could go a something like this...
1 Star: Slight chance of causing WEAK -Status-
2 Star: Fair chance of causing WEAK -Status-
3 Star: Fair chance of causing MODERATE -Status-
4 Star: Good chance of causing MODERATE -Status-
5 Star: Fair chance of causing STRONG -Status-
I know some of you may be thinking that something like this could make certain weapons become a bit overpowered, the brandishes for instance. But the trinkets don't guarantee that the status will affect every target. Also, when using these trinkets, players would be replacing other potential trinkets such as damage and CTR trinkets. Players could potentially do more damage with trinkets such as those, but these would provide for a little more support in groups. But again, this is just a thought.

Either 2 of the same status or 2 different status.
How would it work with mist bombs?
Poison is pretty much a damage increase, plus decreases enemy defenses, Don't underestimate it's power.
Fire + shock can be deadly too.This is more than "little support". Chance don't matter, most weapon charges hit multiple times.
What about fast weapons? Cutter, antiguas... shock/stun in those will lock the enemy in place.
Freeze vortexes?
At most, suggest trinkets than increase the power/chance of the status that's already on the weapon.
But dont give statuses to everything
