Status Causing Trinkets

So I had a thought. What if there was a new set of trinkets that could give your attacks a chance to cause a status effect, or a secondary status if the weapon already has one? They could work similar to how the health trinkets do, ranking from 1 Star to 5 Star. The strength of the status and its chance of occurring would increase as rank of the trinket increases. They could go a something like this...

1 Star: Slight chance of causing WEAK -Status-
2 Star: Fair chance of causing WEAK -Status-
3 Star: Fair chance of causing MODERATE -Status-
4 Star: Good chance of causing MODERATE -Status-
5 Star: Fair chance of causing STRONG -Status-

I know some of you may be thinking that something like this could make certain weapons become a bit overpowered, the brandishes for instance. But the trinkets don't guarantee that the status will affect every target. Also, when using these trinkets, players would be replacing other potential trinkets such as damage and CTR trinkets. Players could potentially do more damage with trinkets such as those, but these would provide for a little more support in groups. But again, this is just a thought.

Any opinions?

What if I combine them? Super rainbow weapon :P
Either 2 of the same status or 2 different status.

How would it work with mist bombs?

Poison is pretty much a damage increase, plus decreases enemy defenses, Don't underestimate it's power.
Fire + shock can be deadly too.This is more than "little support". Chance don't matter, most weapon charges hit multiple times.

What about fast weapons? Cutter, antiguas... shock/stun in those will lock the enemy in place.

Freeze vortexes?



At most, suggest trinkets than increase the power/chance of the status that's already on the weapon.
But dont give statuses to everything

With the mist bombs, it could work just as it normally does but cause the 2 statuses. The trinkets would cost just as much, if not more, to craft as most 5 star weapons. It could sort of be considered carrying an extra weapon along with you. But instead of using it as a weapon with normal damage output, it just gives an added bonus to the weapons you already use. The power of the trinkets could be lowered, give them a lower chance to cause the statuses or just a lower strength of the status altogether. But if that were the case, people may not think it would be worth the 1460 CE to craft the items.

Also, from what I've seen, statuses are usually inflicted more often when the charge is used. They could be made in such a way that the status only occurs when the charge of a weapon is used.

It sounds to me like piling fire on top of freeze is a possibility. Well... for starters, that's not going to do much.

Also, I have never seen a duel-status weapon in Spiral Knights, leading me to believe that OOO regards such weapons as overpowered.

At first I thought this post was about status-resistance trinkets, which already exist, but this suggestion is much different.

It also sounds very unpredictable and powerful in any tier of Lockdown.

Perhaps limit it to 4* trinkets that provide fair chance at moderate status? This way they would be unusable in T2 Lockdown, not have absurdly-powerful statuses, and also not be equal to 5* trinkets in terms of attainability or power?

Hai Edy!

You're right on thinking that some of us would argue this could end up a bit OP. Whilst ctr is good and all, putting maybe Poison on a Combuster would be super-powerful; You don't need to rely on getting Poison on every hit, but getting it would be like a critical hit, not to mention they can't heal, in which scenario, they're probably already dead.

Fire+Freeze is just...I'm not sure who would use those... :/

Shock and Fire, Curse and Fire, Shock and Poison(Interrupt and higher damage, Y4Y!) etc...

Counter-argument aside, are these Trinkets supposed to be Universal? As in they sit in the slot and empower all equipped weapons, or do you have to select one to equip, or is the Trinket weapon-specific?

I think Juances idea of a status chance trinket would be more viable, but still not particularly useful, considering most 5* status inflicting weapons rarely fail to inflict their status.

Weapon-specific trinkets would make more sense. I do agree that the idea of universal statuses on your weapons would be a bit overpowered. Plus, I don't think there would be any Curse trinkets. Using that with a mist bomb would be way too ridiculous.

Sounds like a UV to me.
This is beginning to sound like "add status-inflict UV's to weapons" (which I actually think would be... almost reasonable? I mean, it requires ragecrafting and lowers chance of getting ASI, CTR, etc etc. Also, it limits the OPness of a single weapon (to 3 UV's max))

So these trinkets would let me use my venom veiler to shock and freeze skolvers with shock max uvs?

I have no objections.

Edit:

Seriously though, how about just having two 5* Trinkets? One would raise the chance of infliction by one rank and the other would increase the strength of infliction by one rank.
