Why is mercurial set si bad?

The mercurial mail is useless in comparison to the demo counterpart.
It has movement speed increase low which is OK, but no damage in comparison to the demo suit, which points towards it needing MSI Med.

And, this movement speed is negligable as you run so little faster than normal.

I got beaten running around the fountain in haven because of this.

I would suggest increasing the base percentage a low increasing it does or giving it a Med bonus per piece,

What do you think?

MSI Med wouldn't be OP compared to damage or ASI so why isn't it medium
Too?

Compared to M.Demo, it has different type of defense.
Compared to other pierce sets (ironmigth, jelly, cobalt) its the only one with shock defense, and even if the bonus is small, at least it has it.

Its not a spectacular set, but there are worse things out there. It fits into the game, offers unique defense combination.
Maybe the problem lies in the other sets.

Mercurial set is good for piercing and shock resistance. The MSI is a nice bonus. Unless you count MSI as a bomber's trait, it is never meant to be a Demo set.

Mercurial Demo set, on the other hand, is perfect for Ghost in the Machine. It also offers elemental resistance that Mercurial set doesn't.

MSI is beneficial when you are kiting in arena or when you are charging some heavy duty bombs (e.g. Big Angry or Vortex bombs). But a careful bomber can easily live without.

Bottom line? They both have their own niches to fill in. Get a bit of everything in a level? Mix the two sets and you get yourself a good compromise while keeping MSI med.

BTW, unless Three Rings ninja patched, MSI only gets activated in dungeon level.

While I agree that it's a bit unbalanced compared to M.Demo, it's only a bit. In a piercing, shocking stratum, would you rather have +2 damage or actual defence against piercing? What about Lockdown, where toothpicks are abundant?

I think slapping some stun resist on it would be nice.

MSI bonuses from Mercurial

MSI bonuses from Mercurial Jelly/Demo and MSD penalties from Ancient Plate don't take effect in Haven. They only effect you in combat zones so races around the fountain should have no bearing on your decision.

@Aget
I'm fairly sure the "si" stood for "speed increase" and was not a typo for "so". I could be wrong though.

@Bzzts
Mercurial mail's movement speed increase isn't a lot. You do run faster, but not by much. That doesn't mean it isn't useful though. The times when it is most noticeable is when you are charging a weapon; much of the movement speed decrease caused by charging a weapon is negated.

That doesn't mean the speed increase is only useful when charging weapons, though. Other players wont notice it, but when I'm wearing mercurial, I can just tell the MSI is there. It's subtle enough to not be visually distinguishable, but it's good enough to make you notice.
