Suggestion/s to reduce lag for AUS players

I'm new here, and judging from what posts I've seen like this, my ideas will get shot down really fast.. but here goes:

In my time in the game I've noticed that the latency between me and either server is not that much greater than most US/EU based games I've played, however the impact of this lag is much greater. I'm not sure why. Regardless of the reason, having an Australia-based server would decrease the problem.

From other similar threads I've read, there was a lack of usable & useful servers in AUS/NZ, but Amazon [with whom I believe the US server is hosted?] just recently opened a data center/server in Australia on the 13th of November. This should be viable server space for SK, and I haven't seen anyone suggest it, so I am now.

My original idea was to suggest making collisions in CW client-sided, but I think that would require a restructure of the game's architecture.

So there's my idea, feel free to blow as many holes in it as you want.

SK's next patch should include that in the main logging-on screen, there should be a "Select Server" in which the player can choose which server they use. But alas, it only extends upon to the Asia-Based SK; where there are a lot of Chinese/Taiwanese Players and you couldn't understand a thing if you're foreign and couldn't speak the same tongue.

The Servers to pick are: US/EU, Asia and AUS... IF it would be implemented, then many players would be able to enjoy SK more.

~Skye, who hopes to have enemies due to this post XD

Lol, I'm just kidding about the above post. But, it would be nice though...

OOO doesn't do servers, Sega does. Here is the list of work....

OOO does the development of the game, from accessories all the way to Zombies. However, servers are not their duty. Sega bought the publishing license from OOO, so they probably also bought down servers in US and in EU. Of course there is an Asian server, hosted by another small company name GameCyber. Sadly, the Asian server does not link to the Main servers, just because Spiral Knights is now owned by 2 separate companies.

The only ways to fixed this is

#1 Sega buys Gamecyber, or gets SK out of their hands (which most likely won't be very lucrative)
#2 Sega buys a new server around the Asian-Australia area (which also might not be lucrative)
#3 OOO directly buys a server and links it to the main server
#4 Sega links the asian server to the main server (which might cause some conflict for asian gamers)

In the end, the main problem lies with communication and economy.

Considering that the Asian one is a seperate game.

Yep.

With people from the US variant having to make completely new ones to join Asia's, and that they handle the updates and stuff differently(EP and OCH for CE!!!!), it would be hard.

Either way, they messed up.

Yes, I agree, with... 2 and 3.

+1 to Zaffy's post and;

+1 to OP so most of us can rage about the latency.

Still I would love the "SK's next patch should include that in the main logging-on screen, there should be a "Select Server" in which the player can choose which server they use." therefore linking the main with the asian and aus server.
