Controller + Gun = where the heck am I aiming at!?

I configured my 360 controller for Spiral Knights recently, and for the most part it's behaved beatifully, I had no issues re-mapping all of the various important functions to controller buttons in a way that I found quite intuitive. There's just one problem: Guns.

When going with standard keyboard and mouse control, you know exactly where you're aiming because you have the mouse cursor hovering over it. When you start using a controller, that cursor is hidden from view entirely and you aim whichever way to get the thumbstick pointed in. For sword use that's not a problem, but with guns I often find myself aiming a little too much to the side of my target.

I think a fix could be simple. Either adjust the "auto aim" function so that it ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING or have something htat can be toggled in the control options to add something like a line of dots in front of the knight to give a visual of where precisely I am aimed towards at any given time. Please and thank you, three rings. And also thank you for making it so easy to configure a controller for use with the game in the first place. :)

(P.S., for anyone wanting to know a good 360 controller setup, because the default configuration for one is rubbish: Left stick to move, right stick to aim, push right stick for auto aim (as though it did anything) right trigger to attack, left trigger to block, left and right shoulder buttons for weapon switching, and X, A, Y, and B set to the pick-up item slots. Maybe D-pad directions set to your favorites of the talk commands like "follow me" or "help!" Try it, I think you'll agree it's a GREAT set-up! *thumbs up*)

I'm completely for this even

I'm completely for this even if it was just a little arrow at your feet that pointed out the direction. I play with a PS2 controller and love it but my gun slinging game goes to crap over minor errors in aiming that I wouldn't have made if I had the indicator like I do when using the mouse.

Funnily enough, that's why I

Funnily enough, that's why I like the Wolver line of armors. The stripe and somewhat pointy head are sort of a mouse-pointer-like arrangement, or at least a line-of-sight indicator. But I would love a real one.

(My controller isn't an X-box one, but it's got a D-pad and two sticks. I mapped the left stick to move + aim, for Legend of Zelda like movement; and mapped the D-pad to move and the right stick to aim for a dual "joystick" shooter arrangement.)
