Introduction: What are spells?
Hello, Nickblade here. I developed the ideas of spells. Spells work differently than my skills suggestion. You can upgrade spells and they will have certain star levels and you can learn them but crafting a spell wouldn't make sense so instead everyone would get a Spell Book. It kinda works like crafting, it would be like a scrap book where you put materials in it and since they're magic you can insert your energy in it. it doesn't cost crowns though, Everyone gets beginning spells but everyone can choose beginning spells of 1 status and you can craft from different status. You can only equip 3 spells at once but however you can buy slots and equip up to 5.

Lockdown and Spamming Issues
What if you cause spamming issues in LD and it becomes OP? Well, you can't repeatedly do spells. Spells have energy bars, it doesn't require mist or crystal energy to perform a spell. Instead it works by star level, a 1* spell would only have 2 bar however the bars don't charge quickly.

Novice Spells(0*)=1 bar
1*=2 bars
2*=3 bars
4*=5 bars
5*=6 bars

I know that won't really stop people from complaining but yeah it's not gonna be legitimate complaining for the fact that spells were developed in the game. They're gonna cry for them being cheap but you can't really stop that but not for spamming.

Damage Types
Yes, there will be piercing, elemental, and shadow spells. Even normal spells. Piercing spells may specialize in things like storms of jelly spikes, or claw slashes. Elemental will be the most magical-like type of spells, they will specialize in things like fire blasts or meteors, ice storms, or lightning bolts.
Shadow will specialize in necromancy and abilities of the fiends and undead.

I may add more if I come up with any more suggestions. So, do you have suggestions for my suggestion?

If you take out all mention of spells/magic/witchcraft/wizardry this can be generically applied to any weapon all except the book which is basically energy reviving in manually usable form. The rest is basically "a weapon that does weapon stuff" with nothing new or clever. Anyone could have made the same thread after their third consecutive lobotomy and after smoking their fifth joint for the day.

Go play World of Wienerschnitzel or a game which involves magic. The magic kind of magic. Friendship.

i think spells with damage

i think spells with damage types and so forth would be a little OP. but if they do bring it out spells they should rename it technocraft or something to keep this a sci-fi and not a fantasy. heat could be used instead, as when youve upgraded all your weps you have an additional sink. just like my idea of a overload drive aeons ago. (cant actually remember the post title too long ago, wasnt magic.)
but to be honest i like the combat play as it is.

Whatever spell you can think of can be added as a weapon or charge.
A shocking storm is a Voltaic Tempest, Magma Driver throws fireballs....

Gremlin menders may look like magic, but us spiral knights are the tech guys.

I was going to make a thread on making a sort of alchemy-spell alike using materials, and you get ahead : ) Nice, nice, it is good to see more people posting these kinds of things.

Still, I was going to try to take it to another different way. As you can see, people don't like having "magic" per se as we are "techy" guys - even if we do have people studying in the Scarlet Fortress and such, equipped fully in Magic Cloth, at least that is what Mission Mode shows.

So, I thought that maybe we could use that Vial system more and make "usable spells" in Vials, that would use up Materials while creating them. Also, old Vials, Health capsules, Vitapods etc may be able to be crafted too this way.

Your "Spellbook" would instead be a recipe book that you would fill up through experimentation or buying Recipes, and a Crafting Station similar to the Alchemy one could be used to this - or just have the "craft usable item" option in the good old Alchemy machine. It would cost, again, Materials and a bit - not many, none for some options - of Crowns to create the item.

This way you would have limited usable "emergency items", like our actual items are, that would help out a bit and such.

But making a Spellbook weapon with many attacks in there? Nah.

@Grittle: It's not that I'm anti-mage, it's just that given what the OP has written, I see no real reason why we should include yet another standard way of damaging enemies. Besides, he mentioned the addition of an energy bar.
We already have energy incorporated into the game as a stamina-esque value and a trading currency; why would we need a third type of energy? All that would add would be extra confusion.
