"After the patch which happened on the 3rd August, 2011, it is no longer possible to acquire sleep resistance as a UV. Sleep is reportedly coming back in a later date that is of yet unannounced." via http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Unique_variant
Reading this on the Unique Variant page sparked a chain of ideas in my head; Wouldn't a sleep dangerous, challenging, yet rewarding mission type?
The Sloom and Sloombargo could be reintroduced in this mission, and would be a lichen + polyp filled map. Your only hope would be to single out enemies or run through directly. Sleep itself, however, would have to be nerfed. It's honestly too overpowered of a status as it was before, and it would take out players in moments as soon as they had fallen asleep. Perhaps you could mash movement keys to awaken yourself rather than waiting to be butchered?
Sleep clouds could be added in the midst of enclosed battle maps to add a sense of challenge, but also a place to recuperate while your fellow knights fight the oncoming monsters. Knockback would be VERY important in this area, as Slooms and Slombargoes would easily put you to sleep and take you out as soon as they get to close.
The only clear disadvantage I see to having a sleep danger mission is that sleep resist is that sleep resist is no longer obtainable, unless OOO simply makes sleep last for a shorter time span. Sleep + Poison in this map would be a deadly combination, as you would be weakened (while awake), take more damage, be unable to heal from your sleep, and be rendered useless since you'd be sleeping; So Toxigels and Toxilargoes would be effective in this map as well. It would also be irritatingly difficult; but whatever's fun, aye?
Map Name (Suggest some?):
• Silent Night (Slooms, Sloombargoes, Polyps, Lichen Colonies, perhaps Soul Jellies?)
So basically "BRING SLEEP BACK!"... Nope, not going to say anything more, will leave it for someone else to rip it a new one, but I will say, no new ideas here.
