I just wanted to know if we are allowed to place bets on coliseum games. And if so, could we get together a group to do so?

yes and no

I havent throughly read the TOS but the answer is probably yes and no.

No if you are gambling real money via pay pal or any other means.

Yes if you are gambling crowns or other ingame objects.

Isn't joining a match

Isn't joining a match basically "placing a bet" that you'll win?

Or do you mean like smash bros, with spectating? Maybe OOO should allow that.
