Back in my day, before there were all these fancy newfangled "missions" and "prestiges" all we had was the arcade. In order to discourage people from just grinding one thing without EVER doing anything else, there was a 500 crown charge each time you entered the tier 3 arcade unless you had completed tier 2 for that gate at least once, and a smaller charge was applied to tier 2 as well (people still just grinded Firestorm Citadel but that's beside the point), the idea being that they wanted to encourage runs starting from Haven. With the advent of missions, people are now able to grind Firestorm Citadel far more efficiently, AND they don't have to pay the 500 crown charge. The arcade has become a place for messing around and exploring the clockworks. People who are interested primarily in gaining more crowns almost never touch the arcade and the charge to enter it has frankly just become annoying. So isn't it really time to stop charging crowns for entering the arcade at tier 2 or 3?

Agreed. No one uses arcade anymore cause FSC. People only go to arcade for recipes now. I want reasons to have varied fun instead of grinding the same level over again.

On one hand, 500 crowns isn't much at all. On the other, you might as well clear t1 and t2 if you're going to do tier3 more than once.

Those darn missions ruined the fun this game! Ev'ry day me guildmates 're spammin FSC, and not a single crown was spent! Why can't we just go back to the good ol' days, when the Arcade really meant somethin' for us all.

It's enough to make an impact, and running through T2 is easy and pointless. Not to mention it discourages short exploratory runs, which is half the point these days. It was a nice touch back when arcade was all there was but now, not really.
Add crown charge to mssion repeats, but increase the pitiful amount of crowns you get from non-boss levels.
Perhaps even remove mission repeats entirely. Just as long as non-boss crowns increase.
Yea, this is a good idea but alot of the older players who have been playing since the release of Snarbolax or even the beta, I think have become very fond of the arcade. I know I have, I like running my 0 to 29 missions so I dont think the OOO should totally revamp it or even take it out but the 500 crown charge has got to go.

Oh good days... Good days. Make missions above 6-2 have crown fees that would not be refunded in them (repeating). This includes you, damn king of ashes.

im not the best fan of missions i dont mind them but misssions make the game pretty easy

Complealty agree, I only ever do boss missions for the emblems and try to only do arcade runs but they aren't nearly as effective in heat or crown out put. So I suggest that a change is made to the arcade, a sorta "explorers profit" style update, were every time you complete a level in the arcade with out dieing you get a slight heat boost (5% for tier 1, 10% for tier 2, and 15% for tire 3). Now for the crown output increase, make it every time you reach a cross road terminal or tire point you should have the current amount of crowns you have earned form this exploration increased by a present (same as the heat increase).
To be honest, I don't really mind that much with the missions. I love the danger missions and I think the crown payout is pretty legitimate since they're quite a bit more difficult than any other area and there's gotta be some reward for the risk of losing extra energy. Firestorm Citadel is a bit of a bother since it's become so easy these days since everyone knows every trick to it, but that's been the case for many months now and missions didn't really change that very much. Nearly every other non-boss mission has an even lower crown payout than the Arcade, so missions in general aren't the problem. I still enjoy running the arcade now and then since there's a lot of unique stuff to find in it, and given the ease of the higher floors I don't really mind that the payout is relatively small, but the crown payout is still just a bother and it's annoying that I have to keep that in mind whenever I buy anything. I can't afford to spend all my crowns because then if someone needs some help in the clockworks then I have no way of reaching them.

if someone need help , of course he can invite you , but when everyone is done there is no way you can get in by yourself

oh an on the side , hall of heroes just made recipe hunting obsolete exept for boss weapons , wich , when you have them all like i do , and want a new weapon , you dont even have to make your way trough 5 level to get a chance of no even having it and having to dive in another gate , wich also affect the arcade in some point
YEEES! I find myself mostly grinding (suprise suprise) Ducks and occasionally the T2 bosses or The Gauntlet. But in the end, I'd say I have the most fun when I'm in the arcade. Having the fee on it makes it even less profitable. The more reasons to go to the Arcade for everybody, the better.
Hall of Heroes recipe prices increased:
2,500 crowns for 2 Star Recipe
7,500 crowns for 3 Star Recipe
12,500 crowns for 4 Star Recipe
30,000 crowns for 5 Star Recipe

Remove the fee for access to the arcade clockwork, increase payout & drop rate. Decrease payout & drop rate of missions. That is how you get players back in the arcade. The increase & Decrease most be significant enough to make this change work, After all the whole point of Spiral Knight is the Clockworks.
Okay, first off, I will support the removal of the fee because 1) it defeats the purpose of Arcade runs. If you are out of money, you do runs to make money. You can't do that if you don't make the minimum fee. 2) It's just small enough to be pointless.
Now, exploration is the main thing trumpeted about the Arcade, but there's not nearly enough of that. To encourage exploration, allow the players to go up the elevators to a higher depth. Mapping every level available for the given week will eliminate your elevator fees for the rest of the week.
I can sacrifice going up through the depths if you guys don't like it.
