One thing I enjoy in SK is new visuals and mechanics. Here is an idea for a new type of gun.
Normal attack:
Functionally equivalent to a 3-shot Antigua line (mobile, instant; base shot damage increased slightly to compensate), but visually distinct from other guns, firing a laser bolt. A normal shot draws a line from the gun to the target (colored glow effect, etc.); the line is drawn rapidly with peak intensity at the head with intensity falling off rapidly to about 10%, which then fades after 500-750ms. If the bullet path doesn't intersect any hitboxes, then it just emits a brief flash when it winks out of existence at the end of its range. Effectively, firing the gun briefly leaves a faint line "laser trail" after each shot.
Charge attack:
Fires a single laser akin to those found in Ironclaw Munitions Factory for 1-2 seconds. The charge shot would force you to stand still and face one direction; it would knock back the foremost target in its firing path. It would also be capable of multi-hitting over the duration, so individual tick damage would be lower than what you might find on a weapon charge attack. The idea is that if you line up a target, you will be able to deal a large amount of damage as it gets knocked back over the duration of the attack. It would also be relatively effective on turrets, as they will never be knocked out of the line of fire.
By carefully balancing the attack damage, this could be a viable alternative sidearm (compare to Valiance, Argent/Sentenza and Polaris).
Awesome idea! But i think the charge attack will be a little useless like the antigua guns charge, that you need to stand still while shooting, so it wont be that good against turrets.. And even more useless beacause of knockback, that will prevent hitting the enemies multiple times like the antigua does.. Sorry for my bad english *_*
