Psycho's just trying to explain to you that pets and battle sprites aren't the same thing, and most "pet haters" are just people criticizing poorly-thought-out suggestions. On the other hand, i don't really think battle sprite haters even exist yet...

It's not the idea itself that is necessarily bad; it is the complete lack of thought most suggesters put into their posts that we hate. The vast majority of such posts simply say "I want a cute pet to follow me around and do things" without describing how they would fit into the SK environment.
In fact, if you were to ask most of the pet "haters" about the Battle Sprite idea, they would probably say "It sounds interesting, but I have these reservations: ...". This is because Nick laid out a detailed description of how they would work in concept, how they would fit into the Clockworks and even the SK lore. And in fact, many such players made posts addressing issues, such as gameplay difficulty and the Coliseum/Lockdown.
Psychodestroyer is a little more abrasive than he needs to be, but his first responses typically revolve around a valid point. Name-calling and flame wars don't change that.

I really like tech and robots, but I don't blow a fuse when I find people who absolutely despise mecha.
There are some things I do get heated over in terms of difference in opinion, but those are unrelated.
Preference is one thing. What I'm thinking about is another.
You're hating on preference. One of the things I heavily dislike people doing.
You are in no position to tell people what or what not to prefer. Don't. It annoys me for reasons I stated earlier, and when I get annoyed, threads get heavily derailed.

He acts like he is better than me, and if I misread something in a thread, he rubs it in my face not caring how I feel, I have some learning and reading disorder, I can't help it if I don't know something that makes my thread an error.

Shockwave. People are allowed to disagree with you. You are not always right. Maybe you are right sometimes, but not all the time.
The reason people didn't like the idea of pets is because, when people said "pets", what was meant was a World of Warcraft style pet that acted on its own. This would have further discouraged strategies like Shiver+Catalyzers and the like, while making the other fighting styles too easy to succeed with (for example, your pet could distract everything while you go to town with your Blitz Needle, Brandish, or whatever).
What Three Rings is adding is different; Battle Sprite attacks are activated manually. This means no stupid decisions on the pet's part, and the update can help all strategies equally well. In addition to this, I heard rumors that Nick is making enemies tougher to compensate for the power boost Battle Sprites will give.
There is, of course, not enough information to hate on battle sprites. However, Battle Sprites are not the same "pets" people were suggesting.
There is no reason to hate someone because he does not like a suggestion for a game. In fact, if you hate someone for this reason, it's really just very petty. (I for one am looking forward to the Battle Sprites, but if someone is against them, I will not hate the person because of it.)

Pets not only look like they're going to destroy the game's balance system and horribly destroy PvP balance, but it makes PvE easier.
The last thing this game needs is to become easier.

I don't think myself above anyone. Not even people I hate, which number in the very few. There are those who I'm wary and generally hostile to, but that aligns with past experiences and a bad impression. 'Hate' does not come in to those.
A personal thing of mine. I don't need to discuss it further.

Would you hate them because they are spiders? Maybe, but the remaining 90% of the people wont want them in the game because they just change the game, his metagame, too much things.
4 knights running with their pets shooting/poisoning/protecting them, maybe it will be possible even do Vanaduke runs without using weapons.
Imagine if Black Ops 2 were about running without weapons with a mini robot flying over your head. PLEASE, THAT IS WHY PEOPLE HATE BATTLE SPRITES, ITS SIMPLE.

To those who hate Psychodestroyer/his posts: Why do you hate him? What did he ever do to you? Do you think people care if you don't like him?
Maybe think about things sometimes. K? Psycho has a well-earned reputation of being someone who brings up valid points in his arguments. You don't. Granted he's not always nice about it, but welcome to something called Life where people don't go out of their way to be nice to you.
If you want to stifle those with opinions that differ from yours, however drastically, you really don't have a leg to stand on since you violate your own logic by posting your opinion. And good luck if you just want to go through life being the only one who's allowed to express an opinion on a subject. I have absolutely no issue against pets.
What I do take issue with are people who don't even bother to think about the consequences if their suggestions were implemented. Or people who can't be bothered to put any detail into their suggestions. And if their suggestions are incomprehensible, then I really can't give any positive feedback on the matter.
I also take issue with people who post what are essentially rage threads about people raging about updates. If only because it's pointless and just engenders further arguments that were totally unnecessary, although I admit that reading this made me feel good since my blood pressure is lower than is really health and the contents were mildly amusing.
