Was redoing my keys when I got a rather interesting key unbound notification. screenshot
Maybe sprites are coming sooner then we expected? m.sprite_action_1 ?
From my past experience with spying updates, it certainly wouldn't surprise me if they slipped in such things.
Seems they like using little bugfix updates as an excuse to slide content into the game to pull out later.
It appears E will be one of the buttons used to make a sprite use its skill, because I just rebound something to E as a test and got the same message. http://puu.sh/1PoS8
EDIT: Poked around with regedit. Before you go rebinding random things looking for sprite_action_2 and 3 (since sprites have 3 skills), 1 is the only one in the game right now.
DOUBLE EDIT: They've been stealth-patched in. Currently, the default binds for sprite skills 1-3 respectively will be: E 5 6
Sprites have been in the files for a while now (or at least dragon buddy has), so I'd imagine they'd have a good amount of progress on them, but I don't think they'll be ready for at least another couple weeks.
E is my weapon change goddamnit! Don't do this to me OOO. I may have to go start taking E at raves now. That'll change some [scrap] up.
E is my walk_east key :(
Also, does any one else use a non qwerty keyboard? I find that certain keys bind properly, and others remain what they would be on a qwerty. i.e) my e is on the qwerty d, but also binds to the qwerty e.
E? Bleh, I'll just put it on 3 and be happy.
Guys, you can just rebind the sprite attack key when they come out -_-
If I can map sprite attacks to my controller I'll be happy. I've got three unused buttons on it that I'd really like to get rid of.
@Retequizzle You play with a controller? How hard is that?
@thread No point getting antsy until they actually finalize the patch.
@chainguy aswell is not a word ¬_¬
@milkman why E? why not spacebar? or mousewheel? or Q?
@ironskullkid that's....random. What do you use your other three slots with?
@fallconn not very hard once you get used to it, I personally just map L1 to shield, R1 to attack, L2 and R2 cycle weapons, and I use left stick to move and right stick to face.
It's your basic twin-stick shooter layout.
I don't currently use E at all on SK so this won't affect me.
I wonder what happens if we press 'e' right now then... Probably nothing, but even so, something magical would be nice.
The character points and 3 exclamation lines pop out your head :P
It's not random. I use the WASD Keys to move, & I needed a Vial/Pill Button(didn't like using the numbers), so I used the 'Q' Key to use Slot 1 & the 'E' Key for Slot 4. 2 & 3 I use manually. It just feels comfortable for me.
question can you find this with default controls?
also is this on steam?
and finally you sir may have found some great evidance on the battle sprite progress
If you pay attention carefully, youll know its a picture from steam.
what do you mean "manually"? You mean you actually click on the vials? LOL who does that. And why would you only bind two vial slots and not the others?
Oh and I just realized I have E bound to Event Hub.
"LOL who does that."
I do. And I don't Assign Keys for 2 & 3, because I mostly put Vials there, which I hardly use. 1 & 4 are almost always Health or Status Capsules. Like I said, it's comfortable for me to use.
why wouldnt you use vials? And isn't rearranging them so that health and remedy are always in the same slots a lot of unnecessary extra work?
And why would you only bind two vial slots and not the others?
Two slots for the only two important belt items. You actually use the other vials? LOL who does that.
rearranging them so that health and remedy are always in the same slots a lot of unnecessary extra work?
Drag and drop remedy pill. Drag and drop health pill. Wow, that was a lot of unnecessary extra work.
+1 Hex
I actually do pretty much only use Health and Remedies, and I always rearrange them to 1 and 2 when I get the chance.
You actually ignore vials? LOL who does that.
I bet you avoid vitapods too.
Drag and drop remedy pill. Drag and drop health pill. Wow, that was a lot of unnecessary extra work.
Considering you have to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME you start a new mission/arcade run...as well as every time you run out of one type.
"You actually ignore vials? LOL who does that."
A quip of a quip. That's almost new.
You're missing the point. Point being that people who work differently are in no way 'weird' or 'strange'. They just do things differently. Maybe because it suits them. Maybe because they feel like it. In any case, no-one dictates the 'norm' for these things, so don't start poking at people just because they work differently.
"Considering you have to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME you start a new mission/arcade run...as well as every time you run out of one type."
One run per day. One 'Empty the slot' per run, at most. Not much effort required there.
I hardly use my Pills unless I hit critical, and even then only when I think I'll get hit. My slot's hardly ever empty.
Vanaduke boss fights and Jelly King boss fights.
And even then only maybe.
There are a good deal of people who basically go 'sod the RNG' and decide to get weapons that inflict those statuses themselves. Especially in RJP, where Curse vials are desirable but fairly uncommon.
In FSC the only stuff I bother to stock are health and remedy caps, and Stun and Shock vials. These last two do not get touched at all until the boss fight starts, and if I ever bothered to get a Storm Driver over my Nova Driver then Shock vials would be fairly redundant as well.
You actually ignore vials? LOL who does that.
I am a haze bomber so I don't use vials unless I'm being creative with something like hitting a switch in some tricky place or getting a monster's aggro, and those are only odd situations which doesn't really matter how fast i can press a key.
I bet you avoid vitapods too.
How is this even comparable to vials? Just because I don't use active spells doesn't mean I don't care about passive boosts.
Considering you have to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME you start a new mission/arcade run...as well as every time you run out of one type.
This isn't a inconvenience; it's enjoyable for an OCD. Nothing is more fun than sorting things. And I never run out of remedies or health pills, seeing as I rarely use them unless I need to revive someone or trapwalk.
You actually ignore vials? LOL who does that.
Yes I do most of the times, if I use them it's because I'm bored and want to have fun
I bet you avoid vitapods too.
It happens I do FSC without one just for the heck of it, it's not really that hard...
Drag and drop remedy pill. Drag and drop health pill. Wow, that was a lot of unnecessary extra work.
Considering you have to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME you start a new mission/arcade run...as well as every time you run out of one type.
It's not really time consuming 2 clicks... if you were time consuming you wud b tulkin lik dis, it's 1 drag drop most of the time, I put vials 1 and status 2 and get whatever most vials drop to not get one in the fortune wheel. And you don't run out of vials if you don't use them...
Not everyone is playing the way you do and not everyone is on the same level, some people can do SL FSC in proto set...
One run per day.
OK, how do you use up the remaining 50 mist energy then? It's simply not possible to use up all your mist in a single run. Even if you do, the recharge rate means you'll have to play again before the day is over or you end up with wasted mist.
There are a good deal of people who basically go 'sod the RNG' and decide to get weapons that inflict those statuses themselves. Especially in RJP, where Curse vials are desirable but fairly uncommon.
Gran Faust doesn't cause curse every time. And it's NOT POSSIBLE to have 5 status bombs at the same time (btw there's 7 statuses. And vials are the ONLY way to cause sleep, EVER.)
How is this even comparable to vials? Just because I don't use active spells doesn't mean I don't care about passive boosts.
I could have said "removes UVs", it's the same basic premise of ignoring something that makes the game easier or more fun.
Not everyone is playing the way you do and not everyone is on the same level, some people can do SL FSC in proto set...
I don't believe for one minute anyone could do that solo without ever dying, but that's beside the point. Why would you pointlessly make the game more work?
My point is, the game gives you vials, there's no reason not to use them just so your special little "system" isn't out of order.
"OK, how do you use up the remaining 50 mist energy then? It's simply not possible to use up all your mist in a single run. Even if you do, the recharge rate means you'll have to play again before the day is over or you end up with wasted mist."
You appear to be under the delusion that people only run Missions.
I only run CW. 80me for the Elevators, the other 20 for Danger rooms or Revives, and any surplus to be left for tomorrow or used for the Daily prestige mission, depending.
Not to mention that Mission-runners will run the Mission again, just to use up hat's left for profit.
Still, that's two runs a day. Hardly a lot of effort.
"My point is, the game gives you vials, there's no reason not to use them just so your special little "system" isn't out of order."
MY point is that you shouldn't judge the way others work because they're different. 'System'? It just makes things more comfortable. I can have a weapon in my second slot and never use it, who cares? If there's no reason to use it, then you don't use it.
I don't even know why you're complaining about these things, it's like deciding to wear the Green shirt instead of Blue on Saturday.
"You appear to be under the delusion that people only run Missions."
Did I say that? No.
"Still, that's two runs a day. "
Which is more than you initially told me.
"If there's no reason to use it, then you don't use it."
Except that vials give you an advantage (albeit small but advantage nonetheless. it's basically a guaranteed status with near-infinite range)
" it's like deciding to wear the Green shirt instead of Blue on Saturday."
No, it's like deciding to wear the green pants instead of NO pants.
I tried playing with an xbox controller for windows once, But I couldn't face left while going right or face right when going left ect ect.
I thought that would work? Look with left stick and turn with right?
When I use controller, I have left stick for move and right stick for face. it works great, but I'm more used to keyboard, plus I have to type because of all the selfish people who refuse to get steam or enable voice chat.
"Did I say that? No."
Then what sort of 'Full run' uses only 50me? Do share your secrets.
Two runs MAX, and I was referring to myself. Single run per day is what I usually get up to.
"Except that vials give you an advantage"
So does running around whacking things with a stick instead of taking time to aim and throw. Preferences. My point.
"Let's continue talking about about Battle Sprites."
Indeed, lets continue with this discussion of the BS to come :3
...........Quit starting arguments with everyone.....
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120818061251/larryboy/images/a/a...
While going through the SK files, I actually found the animation your knight uses whenever you call on a sprite to use its abilities. The animation appears to be the knight yelling and pointing. :3
I'm rather excited for these sprites.
You're Larry. Dude, Batabii, we've been calling you Larry. Do you understand what I just said? Does your arrogant, illogical self understand what I just said? I hope you do.
on another argument, you just said "FALCON SPAM". Therefore, you do spam threads. You lost that argument...
"..because of all the selfish people who refuse to get steam..."
^ So you think that you're able to dictate what people may use? Selfish AND hypocritical.
BTW, if you dictate that one way to play is better than the other, then you're being selfish. Yes, I do understand you want people to do things "correctly" by playing the way you prescribe, but the way you're doing it makes me irritated.
So, batatard, do you understand?
I feel that most of players don't know how to use their vials here. ( -_ \ )
1. Did you know that you can change the direction of a wisp using a vial ?
2. Did you know that you can repel the projectiles from Gun Puppies and Polyps using vials ?
3. Did you know that using the stun vial, you can save yourself when you are ganged by monsters ? It has a huge knockback.
4. Did you know that you can cancel Lord Vanaduke's attacks using vials ?
You probably don't, but now you do.
Another facepalm ( -_ \ )
I'm not larry
I was never larry
I will never be larry.
And I'm pretty sure the mods won't appreciate you calling me "batatard"
1. Did you know that you can change the direction of a wisp using a vial ?
Yeah so? when you don't get in their way they don't hurt you
2. Did you know that you can repel the projectiles from Gun Puppies and Polyps using vials ?
Yeah so? When you don't get in their way they don't hurt you (can dodge 4 turret at same time in T3, not really hard or something to be proud of)
3. Did you know that using the stun vial, you can save yourself when you are ganged by monsters ? It has a huge knockback.
So does charged attack...
4. Did you know that you can cancel Lord Vanaduke's attacks using vials ?
Did you know that Polaris can do that too?
Vials are still useless when you cakewalk FSC
Edit: I will post Mogliere Haunted Passage Proto set run on Youtube tonight, it is 4 months old already... He's a french player and one of the best, him and another guy used to proto set run darkfire vana, but one left and the other has billing problem so he got banned >.<
@Shamanala :
/Sigh...
"Yeah so? when you don't get in their way they don't hurt you"
It reduces the time you need to pass a certain hallway or room. It also saves you in GitM.
"Yeah so? When you don't get in their way they don't hurt you (can dodge 4 turret at same time in T3, not really hard or something to be proud of)"
Other than saving time, it also helps you save your stupid teammates who run directly to the polyp. It also helps in T3 arena filled with Rocket Puppies. Try dodging that.
"So does charged attack..."
Did you even read what I said ? I said Ganged up on you. Which means that the monsters cornered you in a place where you can't move. You can't use a charge in that situation, can you ? I guess you can, with you awesum powers.
"Did you know that Polaris can do that too?
I do, and any gun can do that ( Also bombs and swords can ). But the point here, I mentioned them to show that they are really useful and can help.
"Vials are still useless..."
Sorry to say that, but you are useless.
I for one can't wait for the sprites, I think they'll make a good companion!
Preference.
I mean, I don't use swords much despite them being useful, are you going to rip on me?
A guy finds them useless in his playstyle. A lot of things we find useless in our playstyle.
Other than saving time, it also helps you save your stupid teammates who run directly to the polyp. It also helps in T3 arena filled with Rocket Puppies. Try dodging that.
Or I could just VV/SS/Kill them so they don't do much damage to teammates anyway. I've also yet to see someone accurately vial down a T3 Puppy Rocket
You can't use a charge in that situation, can you ?
Since the retained charge patch, it is actually very easy. Sudaruska charges are very effective when cornered.
I got this aswell, kinda weird or this might be a Easter Egg.
