I know this has probably been discussed before but i could not find a post.

But, are the LB and CIV viable options for t3? I have seen most people talking about Divine Avenger and Gran Faust but it seems like LB and CIV are much more accessible. The ultimate question i have here is wether or not i should spend the money on these lesser swords or just wait and save my money for the Sealed Sword alchemy ladder.

Many people I know use

Many people I know use Leviathans in Tier 3 and a couple also use Cold Iron Vanquishers, so I believe they are viable options for Tier 3.

Which line you go for personally depends on how you like to play (slower attacks for sealed swords or average speed for CIV/Leviathan)

Leviathan is the best overall

Leviathan is the best overall sword in the game, imo. It's not flashy looking so it's not popular like Avenger and Faust, but overall I think it's the best. Huge, consistent normal damage (no worrying about resistances) + probably the best or second best charge attack in the game right now.

If you ever manage to get a high+ UV to charge time reduction on a Leviathan... good god. Imagine spamming that devastating charge attack every couple seconds.

The difference between the

The difference between the two is that the Leviathan is far more easier to get the recipes for compared to the Cold Iron Vanquisher as your not at the mercy of Basil, however the Cold Iron Vanquisher is very, very slightly more powerful all around and MUCH more powerful against Undead type mobs.

If you want an easily accessable and solid 5* weapon, you cant go wrong with Leviathan, if you want a bit more omph and to make undead-type monsters a breeze, Cold iron Vanquisher will help.

Errrr....

I have no experience with either, so I could easily be mis-informed, but from what I have heard repeatedly, the CIV is considered rather inferior to the Levi. This is due to the charge attack not being as effective (less knock-back to monsters) and doing in general much less damage to almost all monsters, except undead, which the CIV only does slightly more. This has been griped about a lot in the forums, so seems very likely, but, as mentioned, I'm merely parroting what others have said. I love my 3 swords doing each damage type, personally, and find that quite effective. But that takes lots of weapon slots, and is not so great if you actually wanted to do something other than charge every critter in the clockworks to go toe-to-toe with.

No.

It's really, really not.

In Tier 2, the 3* Tempered Calibur deals slightly more damage than the 4* Cold Iron Carver at maximum Heat. It just gets worse from there.

The power bars are not consistent: as far as we know, they're not directly linked to any particular statistic on the sword. They are rough estimates at best.

Please do not make the same mistake I made. The Cold Iron line is only useful in Undead stages, and I'm not even sure I'd recommend them in Graveyards (you'll want the knockback to get Phantoms out of your face, and the Cold Iron line just doesn't deliver).

There has been massive

There has been massive amounts of talk on the forums about the Levi Blade and CIV. The overall consensus on the issue is that the bars aren't accurate as it shows Levi Blade and CIV having the same amount of normal damage. BUT Levi Blade consistently does more damage to most enemies (maybe a little less then CIV to Undead). So obviously the bars are wrong.

Honestly I prefer the Sealed Sword series over the Calibur series. Yes they attack slower, but they have nice knockback and they hit at a good 180 degrees making them fantastic for crowd control.

have to agree with gwen on

have to agree with gwen on this one. altho calibur has a fantastic knock back charge, you do have to get close and personal. With some enemies, this is hard to do without taking the risk of getting damaged, which interrupts the charge. For fairly open area battles Divine avenger is king due to the ranged multi knockback charge attack. for enclosed areas crowd control, Calibur charge works well but when ur charge attack is done, you are in danger of getting mobbed because your regular attacks do not have knockback. I have both DA and Levi UV CTR High, and i find that using DA and Shivermist with decent CTR covers the open area and enclosed area crowd control better than Levi and Shivermist because you have a much lower risk of taking damage. You don't have to get close in open area fights and well timed Shivermist+ shield bumping ensures no one gets too close while you reduce the number of enemies. of course there is the down side of encountering enemies with elemental resistance, so usually i just bring both Levi and DA. If you are doing Vanaduke and you need a gun then just replace Levi. ull have abit of trouble with the mask stage, depending on what gun you bring, but it shouldn't be too bad.
