So they occasionally put up other items that were once sold in the same way as the original rose regalia... and people are completely fine with it. But then when they put up the original rose regalia, people were angered by it, and made a huge fuss on the forums about it. Why?
Why are people outraged by original rose regalia on the featured auctions, but not by the other once-promotional items?

I never said it was ok.
For instance, I held on to a Love Aura after I got it in a promo.
Was getting ready to auction when they released it on Featured and seriously affected the Auction pricing.

I think that the Regalia is a bit more dear to most senior players hearts than most of the other promo items.

What I want to know is why they only sell Violet and Coral Rose TABARDS and not the chapeaus?
I know those are the only two I see on the AH with any frequency, but never their counterpart hat pieces.
I just remember there was a first gen of red, black, and white.
And there was a second gen of gold, blue, and green.
But still would it hurt to have the hat parts of the same AH series for violet and coral?

Contemplating Chapeaus
The reason you never see the chapeaus up is because rich people are jerks and snap up all of them before you can get there.
It would probably be better if there was a limit on the number you could purchase per character, at least for each time the auction comes around; it would at least give people a slightly better chance at getting one.

I fail to see a problem with Rose stuff in the featured auctions; those things are ~supposed~ to be a crown-sink. So if they put up, say, a White Rose set, and it sells for the same 5 million, that's five million crowns no longer in the game. Crown-sinkage achieved.

Yes, a lot of people, myself included, made a lot of noise when they put up original rose gear as part of the kick-off when featured auctions were introduced. There were two big things that came out of all that fuss that changed the way a lot of players look at promo items, however: 1.) 000 made it very clear that they can put up whatever they like, whenever they like--they could toss up a dozen of each original rose set tomorrow if they really wanted to--and 2.) 000 changed the language that has accompanied the promos since--no more of that "DIS is only chance youll get it EVAR ZOMG!!!11!!" It is a double standard, yes, but we've also gotten used to the idea of all the new promos coming back. People are just still especially protective of original rose because, as Acck mentioned, there isn't much left for someone to declare how long they've been around, and the nagging thought that we could see a ton of them put up on featured next week opens up a lot of that same frustration that was unleashed when featured auctions were first launched.

Well, I'd like to point out that they are so expensive BECAUSE they haven't been re-released, while other items haven't even broken 1 mill in value... another thing I don't get, is why OOO would want the first few players to join the game and buy hats to have a status symbol worth more than what most players entire inventories are worth.

Was pretty depressing to see my arcane halo go from 40k ce to less then 1m because of the featured AH. At least it makes a nice spot on top of my surge costume now..

Well, first, I think you're looking at three divergent populations here: the people who were mad about items they perceived as being limited being reintroduced and losing their ce/cr value, and the people who were mad about items they perceived as being limited being reintroduced and losing their status value, and the people who were mad at their trust being broken--the three populations can, but don't necessarily, intersect. At the time, I was mad because something that had been advertised as a one-chance-only-limited-time-offer was suddenly going to be out and about again. It felt like a principle that defined the relationship between 000 and the players had been violated, and especially in this particular game where the early players felt a real sense of ownership over how the game was being developed. I couldn't have cared less that people who bought a ton of rose stuff to sell later were going to lose their shirts, I cared that a sort of promise had been broken.
Anyway, point being: I don't think it was 000's intention to drive the value up, whether that value is in ce/cr or status, I think it was just a byproduct of what all went down when featured auctions were introduced. And besides, original rose stuff could, and likely will, pop up again in the future--just because it hasn't appeared in a long time doesn't mean it won't appear again. Who knows, maybe anniversary of the rose line being reintroduced? No clue when that would even be, but I suppose it's on the wiki somewhere.

Maybe because there is so little out there that says "I was here early on".
Sure there is the beta armor, but I wasn't here for beta.
But, I did join within the first week after launch.
I don't think it unreasonable to have items that are only available for short times, then never promo'd again.
Will the next Birthday helms have 2 candles, or will all the newer players get the same cupcake from last year?
