The Furious Flamberge vs other piercing swords?

Hey everyone! Styrka here.

So, I know I've asked more than my fair share of weapons questions, but this one I feel mitigated in asking, as I've found no collected data on the Furious Flamberge.

I was thinking that the FF would be an excellent all rounder sword, as it would be able to kill everything that doesn't resist it (You're going down, you bloody imps!) and could set fire to Polymbs and Gun Puppies. I'd then just run around setting fire to all the other bothersome turrets and laying down Electron Vortex bombs until the smoke cleared. Sounds great on paper, huh?

But I've nothing to go off of, sadly.

Another option would be to use the BTB (Barbarous Thorn Blade if you're bad with abbreviations like I am =) ) Which would give me slightly more damage and allow me to generate broken damage on a group of vortexed enemies with the charge (Or so I think. Neutral 80-100 * 8 = ~800.) That would mean that I could only bomb turrets for any respectible damage then besides the...skull, things...but that might be an acceptable trade off.

Comments? Suggestions? Please, be free to have them! =)

Thanks,

-Styrka

Each fire tick deals the same damage as 2 hits anyways.
You're better off doing combos than waiting for the fire -wich may not always trigger- if you want to kill constructs.

Stick with the slightly increased raw damage of a BTB or a plain Flourish.

not much data

My opinion on the piercing swords is here. It's true that we don't have much data on Furious Flamberge. We can probably assume that it does the same damage as Fearless Rigadoon, but dealing fire instead of stun. Depending on how often the fire occurs, this could be an excruciatingly slow way to take out enemies that are resistant to piercing weapons. It's better just to carry two (or three) damage types and use the appropriate one on each monster.

As a user of the Fierce Flamberge, don't use it. the fire damage is the same no matter the sword buffs or debuffs and at t3 the fire damage (which is rare) deals about 2-3 ticks of 73 damage, which is worthless really. I love setting trojans on fire but really, there is no point to it since final flouris probably deals more damage per second even if the fire i counted in. though I use it for ti's asi vh uv I have on mine. If you want to use the fire on enemies resistant to peircing, well you'd be better off just using a different damage type all together really....

Furious Flamberge and Fearless Rigadoon

Unfortunately, the damage of the status flourishes suck. The fang of vog slightly out-damages them VS FIENDS, and levi blade does only slightly less damage than them VS FIENDS and BEASTS. It's ridiculous how under-powered these swords are.

If you want an all-rounder sword, get the levi.

Or why not CIV?

I personally recommend BTB the most out of allt the piercing swords as you'll mostly either find yourself fighting a big enemy that can be hit multiple times by BTB's charge or a group of enemies (e.g. wolvers) that bunch up and are easily slaughtered by BTB's charge. The Flourishes' charge is meant for single targets so I guess it is better for Trojans than BTB but BTB will still hit many a times with the charge on them.

As for what Etharaes said, do consider CIV too.

Oh. Poor status stabbers.

It sounds like they are all in need of a buff or two! I think I'll go with to a Final Flourish, since getting a Dark Thorn Blade with a nice UV is a challenge, to say the least. Not when I already have a Flourish with one, anyways. Thanks guys!

Tabby-Catbat has a variety of underused items that he compares and contrasts, seek him out for some good advice next time.

Also i think he is the only person to bring a Fierce Flamberge to FSC. >.>

Final Flourish charge

Final Flourish's charge is not just for single enemies. It has an area effect. For example, I once killed five monsters (two gremlin menders and three wolvers, all healthy) using using a single Final Flourish charge. Somewhere around depth 22.

That said, BTB's charge is a bit safer against a crowd, because it is more likely to disrupt several monsters.
