About 2 of the battle sprites abilities, focusing on the Smoldering Dragon and the Shadowy Masqueraith; how do you think these abilities will affect monsters that are resistant to these abilities?

Smoldering Dragon's ability: “delivers powerful, fiery blasts to your foes."

Shadowy Maskeraith's ability: "uses its toxic powers to debilitate enemies."

If i were to take the smoldering dragon to Vanaduke's level, would it still be able to affect any of the monster's there?

If i were to bring the shadowy masqueraith against a toxilargo, would it still be able to debuff it so that i can unleash a greater damage?

My main point is that, i do not want these new pets to be like vials or a mist bomb, i want them to actually have an effect on the battle field so that even if i were to bring them to a field base on their theme, they will still be able to help me in some way no matter how small. An example of a pet that helps me no matter the situation is the divine Seraphynx that "uses its luminous powers to defend the party from attacks" which I am thinking is a buff. I feel this pet has an ability that can help me no matter the situation.

Also, how do u guys think we will be able to carry our pets? if they took place of one of our weapons would you mind? If they took up a new slot that is added to our character, do you think that is a better idea?

(side note: please comment on my other post in the suggestion forum "blandaxt compound ideas". i know it seems like much, but please just read a small bit and comment on that. i just hate to see my hard work go to waste T_T. Thank you for reading this far :) )

Here in the arsenal, we

Here in the arsenal, we generally discussing existing parts of SK. You should probably move this thread to general discussion or gremlin chatter. Or suggestion if you want to suggest how they should work.

We have very few known facts about battle sprites, we don't even know if other parts of the game are going to be reworked to accomodate them. And as far as we know, OOO just said "we are going to do that". They also said the Tortodrone was "coming back soon", about 2 years ago.

On your main suggestion, a pet which would bypass enemies natural resistance would be OP and would make the game boring (just bring the same status everywhere and do the same thing to win). So it probably won't be the case.

so ..

Are you saying if shiver could affect heart ice in a very small way causing a very small amount of damage (1 damage) you would bring it anyway because it's overpowered? So by shiver affecting heart of ice, the game suddenly becomes boring because of that (no, you’re not making sense to me). I do understand that I do need to move the thread though, so I will. :F

"Fiery" means it will either

"Fiery" means it will either deal Elemental or Normal damage with a chance of causing Fire.
If it just sets them on fire then, that's a rather miserable move. I'd rather bring an AoI.

So then..

So then the phantom, when it says that it will debilitate enemies using its toxic powers, does that mean it's not just going to poison them and that's it. I would be really mad if that was it, because i would have no point in bringing a pet with me, if all it was going to do is poison my enemies when poison does not work on poison theme enemies. I hope it actually means a defense debuff (or something close to that).

Also, on a separate note, do you guys think OOO will be buffing up the enemies after they release the pet patch?

@Quakeman: I would be so excited and amazed if we could actually change the damage type of the pets, i seriously hope this would also mean that they might have different forms for each element (i really doubt it though).

Regarding equipping sprites with items, I can confirm at least one item that we're developing that all sprites can equip: harnesses. A sprite's harness is that metal component you see wrapped around all sprites. A harness determines the damage type output for the sprite's attacks. The default harness always does normal damage, but other harnesses can be acquired to change the attacks to other damage types.

However, not all sprites are capable of all damage types. For example, the Drakon does not have access to a piercing damage harness.

Also, keep in mind with all of this info that this feature is still very much in development and subject to change.

In Lockdown, Recon cloack mark "debilitates" enemies without doing poison....
Anyways, having status specific sprites would incentivate collecing more than one of them, wich means a money sink for OOO.

Personally,

I'd guess that the pets /will/ be not a specific element, considering at least off the bat you only get one and can't switch.
Those descriptions can just as well simply be to give a mental image of what they do, rather then stating that they do some specific element.
That aside, that's like claiming that a FoV doesn't hurt Slags. As long as part of his attack isn't actual burning, but just some damage, there's no reason it would be lower.
And well, as for the phantom, I suppose there's a decent chance it is just normal poison, which would be non effective on said slime, however I wouldn't it put it past OOO to make it something different. However, either way: The only way to know is to wait and see.

i think..

i think that each sprite will be able to make some status inflict(drakon fire, maskeraith poison/curse etc etc) but also have buffs and normal damage as well. OOO said that you can feed them materials to speed up their leveling up AND ALTER THEIR ABILITIES. that means that more likely than not you could have multiple inflicts, buffs, debuffs and other abilities per sprite. On a different note, i would like to know how we will control the sprites cause i know we control the abilities but how. Also are the abilities their only attack or do they also have a normal attack they just automatically do i.e. drakon elemental, maseraith shadow, seraphinx piercing/elemental.

From what I understand sprites only have 3 abilities.
By "altering" it means you can make ability A stronger, neglecting power for ability B and C.

Okay,

I understand, im just glad that they are not just vials or status bombs.

About controlling sprites, i think we will have an extra slot on ourselves to equip em and a new button to press to use their abilities. (I really can't wait for em, Do your best OOO)
