A little over 3 years ago, I had no idea that a game called Spiral Knights even existed. However, upon a visit to two friends who had recently moved backed to Taiwan, I was invited to play. At first, I thought the game 'Spiral Knights' was not going to fit me well. But I ended up falling in love with the game. And I've introduced the game to over 10 people, of which 4 still play today. In America, there are some online games such as Runescape, World of Warcraft, and Maplestory which receives a lot of awareness. And a lot of people try these games. But when I ask some random High-schoolers if they play Spiral Knights, they usually respond with a "I've never heard of it". There's a lot of potential to expand the Spiral Knights's community, but in places like the US, how do people join Spiral Knights when they never even knew about such a wonderful MMORPG.
Some problems about the general awareness of Spiral Knights in the USA
Just a question. Is there the same problem in Europe as well? I'm guessing not as most players are scattered over that area. Am i wrong?
Sure, we can make some advertisements, but OOO would have to make some kind of interesting ad and they would need to pay for it, I think. At first, I mostly thought this would be the same thing as Club Penguin or facebook games, but when I tried it, man it's AWESOME AND ADDICTING :D
But seriously, OOO has to make it interesting for people to attempt to try it
To me, when I talk about someone about the game, they answer with "oh it is that facebook game? i don't like games that limit me how much I play".
Also with our current content after more than a year... we can't say this is a game with that MUCH content.
i agree with aumir that the game hasn't had much content added to it besides the holidday themed content. I cant blame three rings though because they really are a small industry. I think what they need is to show the freedomt the game is in character customization where the players of the game can grab any ability they want, but still have to use their brains to get through situations. If OOO can create a short 30 second advertisement and publish it on youtube or a good community site like facebook, i think they will bring in a good amount of players.
Runescape and wow have been out fro ages, everyone knows it and most people now hate it, fro better or for worse its the same with wow.
Spiral knights is anew type of game that's hard to promote, in my highschool i knew a few who played, its just a matter of time till it catches on really.
Advertisement shouldn't be out yet until there is enough content.
If we have a player amount large enough to lag servers, then the game will get emptied out before it even gets good.
On top of that, larger player amounts means a more limited amount of time. Smaller amounts of players are easier to please.
So, not until something BIG (like plot-progressive big) happens will they start advertising.
The core neds to open up, we need to have a final destination that twist into a new mission for the spiral knights that can bring to new deths or heights. Once it open, Then go all out and publicize everything. Im sure a lot of players will come for the pets too, ;).
No one that I knew in the US knew about Spiral Knights. Sometimes potential players learn about new games from advertisements on youtube or even on well known MMORPG websites like runescape. Anyways it is worth advertising the game a bit more.
The catch is so players endlessly keep playing and depositing minerals in hope of creating a gate with it open. Yet it won't open because OOO wants tons of elevator pass/ce customers.
On topic, this is everywhere, not just USA.
SK is a kid in a crowd, it won't be noticed until it's legs grow... or until it gets a flag mast hat thing.
im not sure why it won't open, but imnot gonna blame OOO. i just think they have more content to add to it and bugs to fix. Anyway, i not gonna complanin about the core till i beat all the shadow lair bosses.
OOO needs to advertise for Spiral Knights. Seriously, it could be big.
