Nerf Shock from Enemies

I don't even really know what else to say here. I was saddling up to go do Citadel (having successfully done so on at least 2 occasions previously), so I go down the new gate to find the Thunder Fist Arena. I'm usually able to solo a lot of arenas up to the third round, but always to the second. I cannot get past the FIRST ROUND of this arena. Specifically, because I'm wearing my Vog Cub gear (with the intent to be going to Flame Cit). Without shock resistance, you are dead. Any hit that any of the enemies get on you that causes shock is pretty much a guaranteed death. Here's the biggest problem, and why its different than say, fire or poison. Because after you get hit by it, it makes you vulnerable to getting hit by it again. If you get hit by fire, you can run off and shield, hide, etc. If you get hit by shock, you suddenly have 8 seconds where you're unable to properly defend yourself, meaning you will invariably get hit again, and shocked again, until you are dead.

To basically flat out require me to have shock resistance gear to do this is kinda bull. I could probably accomplish this Arena with a friend to assist me, but really, that's a load of crap. Three Rings needs to tread carefully here. Difficulty in the game is one thing, and its great, but when you start putting mechanics that result in the players death in cheap ways, that can essentially cost them real money, (which, unless you're using mist energy, it costs SOMEONE money) you start to cross into [BS] territory. I don't think its unreasonable for me to be able to do the first round of the first depth of tier 3 without a very specific set of gear. Yeah, i wouldn't exactly be springing for the opportunity to do rounds 2 and 3, but to be crushed by the first round? That's either poor design, or greedy design.

Note: It does not help that this arena has the bat enemies, which are impossible to dodge and you just have to have your shield take a beating, which it can't stand without the proper shield for the job.

People will argue that you

People will argue that you are supposed to gear up at every town/subtown to suit the theme of the dungeon you will be entering, but I personally believe that no status effect should be so game-breakingly overpowered that you HAVE to gear up in order to not die to it.

Especially when monsters like those bat-things can apparently cause status effects through your shield.

Against.

You can shield the damage from the shock ticks, and you can still easily distance yourself from enemies during shock.

Erm. If you're shocked and you try to shield, you stop shielding.

If you try to run while you're shocked, you are stopped every 2 seconds.

Erm. If you're shocked and you try to shield, you stop shielding.

If you try to run while you're shocked, you are stopped every 2 seconds.

Go get shocked. Hold your shield button down. When the shock tick happens, you will take no damage from it. You'll still be stunned, but you can completely negate the damage factor of it.

As for moving, I've managed to easily kite enemies after being shocked, during shock, so I'm really not sure what your point is.

Yes, there are situations where you'll get cornered and defecated on with Shock, but the same thing will happen occasionally with Stun, Freeze, and even Fire if you're geared wrong. The point is to avoid those situations.

You seem to misunderstand

You seem to misunderstand completely, Hazel. I invite you to go take a swing at the T3 Thunderfist Arena (in the new gate, the one that has Cit in it now). Leave your shock resistance gear at home and have fun. The problem involved is not the damage from shock, its that if you get shocked, you cannot adequately defend yourself. It is not even slightly feasible to try to run away from the bat-like enemies while shocked, you can't even do it when you're not shocked. You can't shield, because your shield is interrupted by shock. Therefore, you get hit again, and shocked again. This continues until you are no longer among the living.

That's a balance issue more

That's a balance issue more with Shock Greavers specifically, not the status. Nothing else but the Shock-oriented Greavers create a situation that is guarenteed poop fiesta.

(Also, my normal gear is Grey Feather, so I always have Shock Resist with me, but I used Virulisk for a very long time in T3.)

Nerf greavers, not shock.

Nerf greavers, not shock. Their aura can go through your shield and walls too? Ridiculous.

Yeah, my biggest problem with

Yeah, my biggest problem with greavers is that the auras penetrate obstacles, cubes, shields, etc.

The only way to really balance them would be to either drastically lower the chance of the status happening, or make it not go through block and fix obstacles. I vote for the latter.
