Ok so with all new content/promos/token hunting I start off with eagerness with thought of getting myself
new gear or whatever is in tale for the token that you collect. But I have to say this token hunt has been
a real bust. I did no less then 30 runs today, from missions to arcade, and i ran into 3 black kats. To me that
has to be either really bad luck or the spawn rates are horrible.

i don't know if it is just me or is there others going through the same thing?
Some people say they have run into 2 on a level, some say 3 but whatever it is it's just not happening for me.

To me I am just feeling like this is turning out to be a wild goose hunt. I think that in 30 runs i should have at l
east been able to run into 10. If i didn't have a elevator pass this would have just been a waste of time and energy.

What is every ones take on this and are you guys having the same outcome?
You guys know any tips to getting more run in with the Black Kats?

The spawn rate for a black

The spawn rate for a black kat has been speculated to be around 1%. When there are ~25 kats in a candlestick keep, thats a 22% chance of finding at least one.

I've gotten: -Three kats

I've gotten:
-Three kats three floors in a row
-Two kats in two spawns back to back
-Five kats found by me and my friends in the span of five minutes
-Two kats IN THE SAME GROUP OF SPAWNS
-Three kats on the same floor
-Seven floors without anything
-Three stratums without anything

Random is random.

I've had 3 in a level before but then none for the next 20 runs so good luck trying to find them

So i am not the only one going through this...

So i am not the only one going through this. Ok I can take so kind of comfort
that others are dealing with the randomness of the game. I still think that I am
on a wild goose chase but at least I am not alone.

Yep, your not the only one.

Yeah I would do runs for hours not seeing a black kat, so definitely not alone. I was really unlucky for the start of this event but there will be moments where 4 would show up on the same level.

At night?

It's my speculation that you can find more of them at night. Idk why. I ran like 10 runs in the morning: NO BLACK KATS. I ran 10 runs in the evening: 6 BLACK KATS, where 4 of 'em where in the same floor.

ahaha

dude, manlet found black kats around 70% of the time
I found them around 10%
Dakini found them at 99% (NO JOKE EVERY 2 SECOND IN GUILD CHAT, HE SAID "KAT")

I see what you mean but I could still find black kats during the day as well as during the night. Maybe its due to the amount of players online? I'm really not sure, it seems pretty random to me.

The Night thing I am not sure about

I did it last night for about 5 hours and only found 4. this morning I found 6 so
its all just pure random and a pure headache. I am getting to the point were I
dont even want to do this anymore. And for get about the book...I have better chance firing
lasers from my eyes...

Today i did ten levels, found

Today i did ten levels, found 1 cat on the fourth run. 10% rate.

Yesterday and the day before, i was finding them at a rate of about 5-7%.

My theory on the spawn rate

I bet they hired allot of sweat shop works from china to ghost around and randomly choose the mobs to spawn as BKs as the players were on the level. This explain why some runs you get none because all the works are some were else and at other times its a BK fest.

luck and randomness

Just to prove once again that Black Kat spawnings are quite random, on my second ecounter with a Black Kat in the Clockworks, me and my party got a book :) then for the next 3 hours after i fought the boss and got the OP Black Kat Cowl i didnt find i single kat, so its all randomness and luck if you ask me

Is it different between tier 2 and tier 3? I tried both and after 6 hours found not a single one. But I guess it would suck to find one on tier 2, since it'll only give 1 page.

I'm assuming that the spawn chance for both tier 2 and tier 3 is the same, the penalty for kat hunting in tier 2 being the reduced drops.
It is possible that the spawn rate could be lower in tier 2 in order to be newb-friendly, but I doubt it.

Ran the entire... silver lion gate i think? T3 Fiend stratum with lots of cats didn't see a single black one.

Did the presitge for the first time afterwards and got 1 black cat that dropped the book.

Well I think OOO might have been lying but...

I did quite a number of runs, here are my statistics

Weight of Darkness Candlestick Level : about 8 completed, 2 incomplete, 4 contained 1 black kat, out of which each level contained around 20 normal kats, if completed.

Alone in the Dark Candlestick level : about 2 times completed, 2 incomplete, 2 contained 1 black kat, out of which each level should also contain 20 normal kats, if completed.

Ruby Sun Gate : Depth 19 -- Candlestick, about 3 times completed, 1 contained 1 black kat, out of which each level contained 20 normal kats.
Ruby Sun Gate : Depth 20 -- Scarlet Fortress, completed about 3 time, no black kats, each level contained about 10 normal kats.
Ruby Sun Gate : Depth 21 -- Scarlet Fortress, completed 3 times, no black kats, each level CONTAINED 30 NORMAL KATS!

Well, we can conclude black kats generally exist in candlestick levels? Why then why does OOO list down that any spookat can be replaced D:

Proof that its just messing with out heads.

I did an all day hunt (yes all day I have the flu) And I found maybe 9 kats after 8 to 9 hours of hunting.
So a couple of buddies got on, we do the prestige mission together, BAM 5 Black Kats on first level and 2 on
second level, not including the the one the game automatically gives you. Tell me if this is just crazy.
But I spend all day trying to kind these suckers and them they just all show up on one level.
I swear this is meant to mess with our heads. OOO is trying to drive us crazy.

my 2 cents

2 black kat spawned at the same spot for my friend
ran over 15 candlekeep w/o seeing a single one, + my friend was running at same time and did not found one so 30-40 in a row w/o one
found 1 book alone
found 2 black kat at the same time in separate games
found 1 black kat, kept on going, found another on the same depth (happens a lot, dunno why)

I'm lucky in video games but unlucky in life >.<
