Looking for a guide to being a gunner

I've searched the forums and tried checking google but the only thing I could find was the guide to becoming self sufficient for new players. I was hoping anyone knew the best way to start a gunner character (best weapons, armor, etc.) and could share some information.

http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/5286 has a ton of different information for gunner characters. It's focused more on long-term goals, so it mostly talks about loadouts for characters with access to four- and five-star gear, but it's probably a good place to look.
