Hi all, I noticed that sometimes when I use my shield to block stuff it seems like my shield knocks away the enemies somehow. I haven't been able to figure out how this happens though. Is it when I bump into the mobs with the shield up? Or do I have to "tap" instead of "hold" X down? Or is it just a random chance of occurring?

Also, is this feature a useful trick to know, or is it just something to do "for fun"?

Thanks!

It will happen at intervals,

It will happen at intervals, whenever the enemy is within close proximity of you. Specifically, the little circle that's outlined on the ground.

If you have not shoved something within the last 2 seconds or so, it will happen the moment your shield comes up, and enemies are close enough. There's a small delay between shoves-- dropping and re-upping the shield seems to have it proc a little faster.

This isn't just for fun. It's an extremely useful trick for creating space between you and enemies, especially if you're surrounded.

This works most reliably if

This works most reliably if you get in the enemy's face while your shield is down and then put up the shield while right next to them. This will usually launch the enemy away from you. This is also a good way to free yourself from foes if you are cornered - drop your shield, push in, then raise shields again and hope that cleared a path.

This is called Shield Bumping, and is a very important skill to learn before you advance to Tier 3. It's good you've figured it out on your own!
