And I already have freaking 400 tokens, still haven't seen a single book. Is it bad luck? Or what? I've been hunting and grinding 8-1 lifelessly since the promotion was released. Some of my friends already have 4 book drops and I have freaking absolutely nothing!!! WHY? I'm sick at tired of this stupid grindfest. It's not letting me enjoy the game anymore.

Well the chance are lets say 0.5% which could be any 0.5% out of a total 100% so thats that and i hate this grindfest too its too much time and CE wasted(players with an Ele Pass don't have to worry).
I do have an elevator pass, still this endless grinding is a pain in the A**, I've grinded 8-1 and now I'm switching to 9-2 Weight of Darkness hoping that disgusting book will drop... -sigh-
Ugh tell me about it Ive been grinding away at Weight of Darkness 8-2 since the event started. I was lucky enough to get enough money to get an elevator pass sunday night. I mean I see ppl left and right with Black Kat Cowl's already since day 1. Its very tiring especially when Im only making 300-500cr a drop for like a 10-15min run.
Please note that only the first two are actually proven to work.
Easier way. Buy an elevator pass, skate through any Candlestick level and only engage BK (if it spawns).
Don't even bother fighting anything else, it's a total waste of time.
i found luck with Weight of Darkness, not 8-1 shocky shock level.
found 3 black kats in one level.
and finding 1 kat every other.
Note: this game is about luck. usually your 1hour play time noob finds a book while grinders just up their chances.

That's Pay-To-Win, something I don't think I should encourage the Devs to implement in SK.
Besides, my anxiety is that this kind of "grindfest" would become a norm for SK in the future. The game's design has already slipped the goal of "100% free to pay". Now we are slowly slipping away from "no grinding" also. To me, that's not a step forward in the game's design, but several steps behind the industry's norm. (We are back to the Korean MMO grinding era, most people probably know this by Gravity's Ragnarok Online.)
The innovation I once saw in SK when I first joined in 2011, appears to be slowly fading. Anyone shares this thought also?

I have done 40 "Alone in the dark " and only encountered 5 kats. Also , "Weight of darkness" for 10 times and 1 encounter.
Are they reduce the respawn rate to the bottom or my account just being cursed?
I just came back because of this events but it make me really mad.
I dont really care about the darkness book or something. I just want to collect the pages for my 5 star helm .
Grinding 10 hours and only get a few book page is not fun at all .

@Quakeman. Funny that happened to my guild last night. Luckily the guy who found the BK wasn't mad about the new guy getting the book.
he might not have worked that hard to find the book then.

If the rate is 1/100 and you encounter 100 Kats, you are not "theoretically" supposed to have found a book. In fact, I think the probability to have found at least one book is a little under 2/3. So you will probably find the book in 100 Kats, but there is still a good chance you won't...
Not that I support this rare drop experiment. The game simply does not work this way, and with the event running for only two weeks( for now), the economy and community will not have the time to adapt to the new mechanic. I have no idea why OOO did this.
Not that it matters, I suppose. For such an absurdly powerful and interesting( MSI!) equip, I'm just going to keep grinding for it regardless. Almost to 600 pages. *sigh*

Let's pull number out of my a** for example purpose
You have a 1% for a BK to spawn instead of any kat, on any depth, on any mission, 1% on ALL kat
You have 1% for a BK to drop the book
You now have 1% X 1% to have this book
You now have 0.01% to have this Book of Dark Ritual (not even close to 1%!)
Funny thing is you can do your FIRST 8-1 mission, spawn 10 Black Kats and make them all drops a Book of Dark Ritual, it's in the statistic, it's calculable, it's possible. It can happen (you should buy a lotto ticket if this does happen to you and watch out for lightning storm, you might get hit by thunder)

Probability distribution aren't meant to guarantee "you will get it after X number of runs". Assuming the probabilities are independent of each other, all it guarantees is that the odd of getting a drop this run is equal to the chance of getting it in your previous and the next runs.
The whole expected value business is meant to compare different probability distribution. This way we know which distribution would give us a better odd on average. Truth is, some people could get multiple books within their first 50-100 Pages (which happened) and the probability distribution does not prohibit that from happening. If you are onto your 900 pages and still no Book drop for you, it is also perfectly possible you won't get any Book by the time your Pages are over 9000.
You see why this "grindfest" is one big step back in SK development history now? It would be a lot better for the experience if there is a "cap" on the maximum number of runs (measured in number of Pages) before you get a Book. i.e. trade Pages for Book.
Sorry but 400 tokens is NOT a lot.

I feel your pain and their pain too, this is just nonsence. Thanks for the tip I'll find that post. FFS why can some people get 4 books and I get none? FFS make it token exchangeable, I'd rather grind FSC than this disgusting candle mission where the same, you systematically do whatever you can to achieve greatest speed. Just no CR output. What is this? A game is meant to be fun not adding a [....ing] rare drop to an already rare monster. What next? A 5* darkfang where you still need to find that shield yourself? NO FUN.

Farmed 2 hours, dropped a book, summoned the big scary Kat, and got a Black Kat Cowl on first try.

I got a new friend, he bought battle pack for the box promo.
Some day this new friend asked me for a Blak Kat Hunting afternoon.. I'm not a dephts fan at all, but I agree in order to help him.
I invite him to the 8.1 mission several times and we indeed got 2 kats every 3 levels, we even got books, one for each. Sometimes we even got 2 or 3 kats per level.
Right now i have like 100- 150 pages, we just play a coupple hour, but that was enough for both of us get the Kat Cowl.
A coupple days later i wanted to do some business with this Kats and books.. So i tried again but alone, without my P2P friend, but now i haven't got nothing, not even a spawn kat for pages.. I tried this in the past 3 days but i realize that my luck only gets better when i have my friend with me.
I got bored of trying to farm alone, i need my lucky friend.
