The title says it all. I am a new FF user and using it in LD. My aim sucks, so I would like to ask YOU how you felt.

assuming you are using first swing only, the mistake could be miniscule since it's 180 degree swing. If you miss doing first swing without auto target, I could bet you will be miss too with auto target.
However, AA gives the benefits the most at second and third swing since they're lunge attack.

AA just helps you use the full combo, which isn't something you want to be doing in LD in the first place. If your opponent is good, it isn't hard to sidestep ya after the second or third swing, and counter hit (Or even just tank through the attacks and smack you in the face with a GF while recovering from the 3rd swing).

Flourishes in lockdown are for chipping away at the enemy health with quick jabs. You'll need patience usually to swoop in and only do one or two strikes before swooping out (that or learn how to weave/spin around a target). If you want burst damage, the Hammer and/or GF are the better options.

I agree. The first stroke is really wide, so you should be able to hit anything with it, even without AA. The second and third strokes are narrow, and the third stroke lunges a lot. Without AA, those strokes will often miss.
