Now i realize there's alot of chatter about this... supposed almighty core. some people seem to assume that opening it would mean end-game for spiral knights. would like to express a few options, which are quite plausible to prevent this end game scenario that we all dread. as you know, the core is told to be a massive power source. which has drawn chunks of other worlds to it. gremlins being the only other intelligent beings, they too might be fighting to get that source and escape.

if the core was opened, there's a possibility some foreign invaders arrive to attempt to steal this power source. or, the opening of the core could possibly cause the swarm to grow, making it impossible to leave the planet, as more worlds get drawn to it. perhaps the gremlins got there first, and we would be set for another long battle. Say we do leave... maybe we could have interplanetary adventures, fight new monsters, and get oodles of more weapons.

EDIT i've had the idea in my head that i can't shake... the fact that we can change upcoming gates, and each gate has various combo's, and the energy coming from the gates reaches the core, that the haven arcade is one giant tumble lock system, waiting for someone to make the right combination.

OOO, the possibilities are endless...you write the stories.

so please... less costume armor... less money schemes... write our story, open the core. more monsters, more adventures, more gear. your fans are calling.

There has been a lot of ideas

There has been a lot of ideas about this. Maybe post on that thread instead of making a new topic?

Well this is more of a plea

Well this is more of a plea instead of brainstorming. The repetitive gameplay of the same old levels, just gets you tired of it all. we need new stuff, and we need it badly. not in small doses, we need a HUGE heap of near gear instead of costume armor recolors

-Lairs of the rest of the crimson order and King Tinkizar
-More of the kat tribe
-Anyone remembers the new tutorial mission with Razwog?
-Find out source of the swarm

The game may not end but we don't have the need to open it now either.

Want the core being open now? NO
Want more content before the core being open? YES

But i doubt it they just will keep giving us costume armors and recolored armors because they need money to milk us to fund that MMo Dr Who World game since you know they are good an expert at doing Puzzles game, oh well...

(yes i know i said it a lot but they dont give us lot of content like they did with roarmulus, snarbolax, Shadow lair... and i want them to realize that and give real content now the "Big update" we going to have its battle sprite which will take 6 month and the mission will be just recicled stuff, so "OH LOOK NOW YOU CAN GRIND THE SAME LEVELS WITH THE SAME STUFF WITH THE SAME ENMIES BUT NOW WITH A BATTLE SPRITE!!! AWESOME RIGHT?").

Every "idea" that people have for keeping us on the cradle after the core is opened strike me as really arbitrary or problematic.

You do realize that not EVERYONE is endgame. If you have a major plot advancement like the core opening, there still needs a reason for a knight that has only just emerged from his/her escape pods to still experience the same haven as the grizzled veteran who has downed Darkfire Vanaduke with a water pistol and a greasy fast food bag. In the case of outside invaders (on top of being incredibly arbitrary), you're adding an almost omni-present enemy into the world of those who (story-wise) don't know they exist (Unless you do a COMPLETE plot overhaul for all starter missions and such). Swarm growing making it impossible to leave... ok but once against new players are guna be stumbling over it (Unless you do a complete plot overhaul). Adding a dungeon or fight of any kind at the core is the equivalent of putting a half-hour timer on any devoted late game player who is determined to visit the core and power up the Skylark for our departure. For interplanetary adventures... idk about you but I got some friends who are still mingling through tier 2 and early parts of tier 3. You're essentially putting up a wall between early and late game players

I made a list a while ago for dungeons and levels I'd rather see instead of the core. Off the top of my head...
- The Nine of the Crimson Order. We've only seen Seerus, and I'm personally eager to meet Herex (not to mention Tinkinzar himself)
- Kat and Owlite mythology. We got the Kat heroes, so what about the Owlite heroes?
- Maulos was a blast to fight, where did he come from and can I kill others like him?
- Ghosts in the Machines implies that there were others long before us (or we've been stuck here for a while)
- How do the Swarm and Gremlins interact? The beginning of the unknown passage has several dead gremlins, not to mention the corrupted ones. On top of that, if the swarm can corrupt gremlins, why not Knights?
- Not really a story concept, but I'd love a legit excuse to take a striker module for a fly through some gremlin construction projects. Leaping building to building and all that stuff.

The same reason that every single knight needs to kill Lord Vanaduke, Royal Jelly and Roarmulus even when countless other knights have already done it. You need to understand that it's an MMO, at the same time that a veteran can be past the Core and back to Haven for whatever the reason there's no problem at all if the beginner needs to do everything he did over again.

EDIT: Reading again I realized you may be talking about a beginner having to fight the same content as a vanguard, as for that I say the same as before: It's a goddamn MMO, you can have people starting the same quest that someone finished centuries ago without a single problem. Plus: The Haven doesn't need to change, and if it needs a new npc there they can simply put it on a "closed access" zone that you can only enter when you reach certain rank under the excuse of being under construction or something like that.

Complications?

I.E, Destroyed haven.

New enemies.

I really don't like seperating players.....

ECT.

Why have the core open, a major plot point when you have SO meuch left to explore.

Why not sometime before game ends?

> Destroyed haven.

And you guys are assuming that Haven needs to be destroyed because...?

> New enemies.

What exactly is bad about it? If it is an enemy that wouldn't make sense away from the core keep it Core-only, just like Swarm is currently SL-only.

> I really don't like seperating players.....

Again: Are you guys assuming that it would separate players because...? If they need new npcs/other things that wouldn't make sense in beginner's Haven just put a new area that they don't have access until certain rank (there are a lot of excuses they could make; ex: under construction; important place for the operation that the knight still don't have permission to see; etc), but if you mean in PvE it wouldn't separate more than T1 from T2 and T3. And no, the new area wouldn't separate people more than Bazaar or Garrison or any part of actual Haven as the important things of Haven (AH, Vendors, etc) can still be at their usual places.

I'm just assuming some of the possibilities,

The thing may play out

You know, different factors.

And scenarios.

Let's think off all of them.

Sure, but you can't say that they can't open the Core without screwing newer players or that it would cause problems because "x" might happen if I just made an example where "y" happened and everything was fine. If I was saying something like "It can't go wrong, there's no way that opening the Core may mess up with not endgame players", but all I'm saying is that it has a lot of ways that it can go right and yet here we are, with you agreeing with the guy that said that since something may happen than it's impossible to open the Core without causing problems with newer players even when I just gave an example where it can go right, proving that it IS possible.

Nope, the core will be opened

Nope, the core will be opened by paying mere 7200 CE. After that, your energy is replaced by chocolate.

The chocolate system is different. Each time you want to enter an elevator, you pay 1 chocolate. On top of that, it also has the mist kinda energy system. Sounds great, right?

But nope, instead each time do you use action, it cost chocolates. Taking hits are counted as actions, so does walking. More drastic actions needs more chocolates.

But be very careful, if you use more than 50 chocolates per hour, your knight dies due to obesity. Each time your knight die, you need to restart from the tutorial level again.

Sounds awful, right?
