As many of you know, player 'Emily' and I know each other in real life. We live together and we play this game together often, sometimes switching computers (as one is desktop and the other is a laptop). This requires us to switch accounts at times, as I am not able to log into my account while using Emily's computer (I am connected to Steam and she is not).

This past Tuesday, Emily and I were at the library and while she was studying, I used her laptop to play lockdown. She logged into her account for me and I started playing while she was sitting next to me. During lockdown, someone that I knew started talking to who they thought was Emily, and I let them know that it was me playing instead of her. The next time Emily tried to log in, her account had been permanently banned for being "compromised". I can only assume that it was for the incident described above and that the person I told that I was the one playing filed a report over it. Emily has sent in multiple tickets regarding her banned account. They responded once telling her to provide them with information regarding her account to prove that it was hers, which she did. No response. She sent in another ticket about how she is getting no response or help on the situation even after proving that the account was hers with credit card information and all, and explaining the situation I described to you of me playing on her account. She has still received no help or response from OOO. We don't know what else to do, and we expected much better from this company.

If you are a player that already knows we know each other in real life, please comment with your testimony and maybe it will help. If she does not get her account back, I have no reason to continue playing this game. Until her account is restored to her, I will not be logging on.

I hate these ppl.

those gamers who just [smash] that report button.
No life noobs who want to ruin it for everybody else. also includes sending reports of exploits, glitches, etc.
derp. kinda of a sad story really.

Boom!

The ban is unjustified in a handful of ways but I'm going to shorten it.

Are you serious, Three Rings? I know many siblings in this game that live in the same house and share the same accounts and if I recall correctly, you ALLOW this. Either this was a mistake or a shameful act coming from a GM. Regardless, it must be fixed. These two know each other in real life and deserve to have the right to share accounts. It's not like they do it all day, they did it ONCE.

Emily and Tim

First off, I'd like to point out that I've known Emily and Tim for a very very long time now, since my early days of playing Spiral Knights; and have been tight with them ever since. Second, how this warrants a ban is beyond me. If a user is given permission to log into another user's account, they are in context; forking over the ownership to the account, temporary or not, personal info or not.

I'd like to point out that ignoring a customer request, regardless of severity or in-severity, is just borderline unprofessional. This is two days without a well-deserved response. Emily was a consumer, and has rights to customer service just like the rest of is. Denying it to her, or ignoring her, is once again; unprofessional.

I'm posting this testimony not just because I am friends with these two players, not just because I am sick of seeing Veterans of this game leave forcefully or unforcefully; but because OOO is displaying a fine example of unprofessional behaviour. Is it really so much to respond to someone's plea, especially over something so ridiculous? A consumer is a consumer, and consumers are entitled to their customer support. This case is no different.

I rest my case.

People whom just love to hover over that button.

I've had my account compromised before, it's not a good feeling when you want to play a game, but can't because of certain issues.

As for the situation described here, it's not uncommon for something like this to happen. I've played on other people's accounts before, as others mine, so long as we trusted each other fully.

Emily and Timba, long friends of mine, I know trust each other. In addition, assuming the above scenario is correct, then one would wonder why some people are given the power to just simply report people at the flick of a wrist.

Would sadden me a bit though if you left Timba, won't lie about it. You're a good LD player, and the few conversations we have had as of late are enjoyable. Getting on subject though, I do hope OOO takes notice and helps with the issue.

Would be even better if you could remember who hit the report button, though not exactly expected due to short term effects.

Here's to hoping that things do turn for the better.

*In post analysis, I feel like I just wrote a legal document <__>*

reports at first i was banned

reports

at first i was banned for a week for very good reason , and i was abusing of a glitch.

then i was banned for 2 days for language in pvp (funniest fact in this is that the person who reported me had filter OFF ... why would you allow those people who voluntary turned off the filter to bein able to report what they could hide with this symbols @#?#&#$)

but then it just went crazy and now im afraid of doing anything ಠ_ಠ, there was this thing where we can sit in the ground in haven , a kid said he would report me ... instantly ruined my fun (this glitch is just fun to watch but does not bring any money to any one or exploit on the game).
a couple of days later a guy enter in vanaduke, i need a dragon scale and 2 critter carapase to make my salamander armor right before i go to shadows lair to make my arcane salamander. he give me the items .. then switch to 2 star armors , weapons and shield... LITERALY all 2 star items.
i ask him what the mutual touch is he doing and he explain me with all his mightiest beliving that he need to heat these items before craftign them. i explain him that you can skip to 2 to 3 star and he start trash talking to me telling me i dont kow how this game work and that i will probably be the first to die on vanaduke run. so i just kick him. he pm me saying his brother is a devloper for OOO and my acount only have a couple of minutes of lifes because since he gave me materials then kicked him "for him thats only what happened" he consider it as a scam and automaticaly think im doing it with everyone asking for mats then kicking them. since someone managed to get me kicked witht he filter off ... i had no choise else to belive he could do it and sent him 24k cr to try to shut his face.

id like to know what we can and cant do in these circumstance considering the actions of the moment.

especialy about these 4 things

-kicking a noob that trashtalk

-kicking a guy who is obviously better than me but just solo the whole level whitout resing anybody "solo is not how you spell teamwork , if youw anna solo just solo dont come here to let us down and watch you play)

-guild vs guild with an agreement of just chilling and ending up tie when the price is a bomb head since we both want it

-sitting in the ground and entering the fountain in haven (nothing here that actualy bring money, wich is not an offence as my first ban wich i wan realy guilty of)

You could have simply given his mats back. Not the 24k.

You may kick anyone you want at your discretion in general. I can think of a few unlikely circumstances where a kick would be unwarranted but it's not something someone would get banned for.

GvG with an agreement to end in a tie to get a bombhead? A bit on the iffy side.

Fountain Glitch. Probably bannable (unlikely) but really, it's not like a major exploit that warrants a GM's attention.

Although we didn't talk before Sir Timbalero, but I saw you and heard about you. And I am really, really sad to hear this happening to you. If what are you saying is true, then I hope from the deepest of my heart the best wishes and luck in retrieving your friend's account.

Seriously, I began to hate the complaining option...

Although I never knew they

Although I never knew they lived together, from guild chat they definitely knew each other in real life and very well, well enough to have given permission to each others accounts. Many times I've seen Emily log into Timba's account and Tim into Emily's account before so they definitely gave each other access to their accounts. Thus meaning her account wasn't compromised thus meaning the ban was unneeded and should be reversed. At one point they even said they were playing LD together with one person keyboard and the other person mouse.

It'd be sad to see these two go so please OOO, respond to the support requests and give Emily's account back. :(

OOO, just give her back her

OOO, just give her back her account. You guys can barely hold onto your longtime players as it is, and people like emily and tim have a lot of friends. I know that they know eachother in real life, and that they are friends. If she can prove its her account, then leaving it banned is just sending a message to her and every player that hears about this that you guys just dont care. Ive known too many players that spend hundreds of dollars on this game easily and get banned for issues like this. We get that you have to uphold privacy and security standards, but it would be nice if you would pay a little more attention and maybe not take weeks to solve such a simple misunderstanding.

Because nobody reported you if someone would have send a report when you said that for sure you would get the ban.

Its sad how some players like to do things like this, reporting someone just to make harm while the report really isnt deserved (slibings sharing accounts and things like this). thats why everyone must have care about what they say in Chat even if it a Joke everyone must be careful about this. because once the GM looks the log for sure there will be a ban if someone break a rule.

even more its sad how OOO way to be with their old and loyal veteran players...

Some clarifying points: 1.

Some clarifying points:

1. The ban appeal on this account came in on the afternoon of February 5, and a response from support explaining why the account was banned (it was compromised--see my point below) and requesting verification of ownership was sent the same day. There has been a dialogue with the player, and the investigation is ongoing. For privacy/security reasons, I can't go into much more detail than that on the forums.

2. It is a Terms of Service violation to allow anyone else access to your account. The reason why account sharing is a ToS violation is not because anyone wants to be a pain in the rump. It's because accounts do get hijacked, and we do on occasion get emails from players who falsely claim to be the account owner. We can't just take someone's word for it that they're the original account owner, or that they're friends with the account owner and it's all okay. We therefore have to go through a thorough process of verifying that yes indeedy, we are turning the account back over to its real owner and not someone who is trying to pull the wool over our eyes to gain control over someone else's account, items, and CE. This process can take some time. I know that can be frustrating, but it needs to happen that way.

Per the forum rules, support issues aren't supposed to be posted on the forums, so I'm moving this to the Graveyard.
