How much damage are you suppose to be dealing with a 3* Weapon?

I currently have the Spiral Demo suit set (2*) and using the Tempered Calibur (Level 5) and Flourish (level 7) but my damage is still very low. I'm hitting 40-60s on monsters while my friend with the exact same weapon, but ash tail armor is doing around 120-150.

Is something wrong with me?

Potential damage differences

Potential damage differences here.

1) As zack said, the wolver line armors increased the damage your swords do.
2) Does your friend have a UV on his weapon? Click Me for an explanation of UV! A UV against the monster you were fighting will increase damage as well.
3) Your weapon is not max heat level-- weapons grow more powerful as heat level rises.
4) Were you hitting the SAME monster at the SAME depth? This is important. Some monsters have higher/lower defences than others. Weapons (by lore) also become stronger the closer you get to the core-- so he may have been hitting 120-150 but at depth 21, and you may have been hitting 40-60 at depth 11. That's normal.

We were in the same party

We were in the same party with in the tier 2 depths (maybe around 13-15)

He has no UVs, but I imagine it might be the heat level along with the wolver line armor. Thanks guys!

Uh

Just a piece of armor won't make you hit for triple the damage.

I suggest you ask your friend to make his inspect open and check out your gear differences.
