Since Darwin Day is coming up, I'm curious to know where the SK community stands.

1. Do you subscribe to the theory of evolution, creationism/intelligent design, or neither/something in-between?

2. For evolution people, what is your thought on the origin of life itself?

3. For creation people, can you point to a positive example (i.e. observation or experiment where something is present) that supports creation?

I'll be frank and say I am wholly in support of evolution. It's got some rough edges, but that's what science is about: making models, finding contradictions, ironing out the bugs and coming away with a better understanding. As for the origin of life, I think the theory that life on Earth was seeded by microscopic organisms that arrived on meteorites is not implausible, although a terrestrial origin seems more likely. I don't think there is a very satisfying answer for the origin of life yet, but to me, the origin of species is clear.

Evolution

Discovery Channel. Life came from prehistoric molecules smashing into each other. Nuff said.

I'm in firm support of Creation by design.

I challenge any of you to study the human body in detail. Take any part of the body and find out as much about it as you can. How it works, the intricacies, etc. Take the muscular system for example. Look at the complex way a muscle in your body contracts on a cellular level. Now imagine that a million times over for just one muscle! Now add even more muscles to the plate for, say, doing this! Look at the awesomely complex way the body is moving. Can you see how many muscles are involved to do that? Now think of the fact that a lump of pinkish grayish flesh in your skull is telling your body to do that. Not one motion, ALL OF THAT. All the nerves, signals, synapses, etc. needed to do that is so incredibly complex! Or say, do you think your spinal chord just found its way into the middle of your vertebral column? Don't even get me started on the skeletal system! Or say, how the eyes is able to focus objects so precisely. When a camera focuses, it changes its position. When an eye focuses, it changes its shape! I could go on for years about just the human body! I haven't even made a dent in the body, and there's still trillions of wonderfully designed creatures and things throughout the universe! Can you look at all of this with a clear head, and honestly tell yourself this all came from an explosion? I don't care what they told you in school. I don't care what the discovery channel says. Society has fallen far away from the truth nowadays. The truth that there is a loving God who made us, and cares for all of us, whether we know it or not. The truth that his Son died for our wretched souls, to redeem us so we may be with Him again. Did you know this? I challenge you to think on this. Just think about it. Hopefully I struck a chord in someone, and if so I encourage you to seek out more information about this.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.--Romans 1:20

I'm (mostly) for evolution.

I just find that there is so much evidence supporting evolution that I simply can't deny it. As to the origins of life however, I have no idea as to what might have gone through all the trouble to create the first single celled organism, and why it was created. Maybe there is some kind of god out there that created it. As to how it got on Earth, I believe the theory of organisms coming down on an asteroid seems the most plausible to me.

@Immortous: Those are some good points, and they are close to why I consider that there may be some greater being that created the first organism, but I've already established evolution in my mind from an early age.

A Christian trojan? I though every trojan is an atheist.

Subject not found.

Chromas will evolve to become cavemen, and they would be the mindless idiots that make the SK suggestion forum today.
