The gap youkai is confused.

Do you mean you don't want to play using your microphone?

Step 1. Press the escape key in game to go to the options menu.
Step 2. You should see a tab titled steam click it.
Step 3. Once you've clicked the steam tab uncheck the box that says Enable voice chat.

Or If you don't want to play on steam

Step 1. Make a web account.
Step 2. Go into your steam account.
Step 3 Mail your items that are unbound to your web account.

If all ese fails you can ask a GM through a support ticket.

Why would you not want to

Why would you not want to play Spiral Knights on steam?
It lets you trade SK items for items from other games (and for other games themselves).

Trouble with Steam is the Steam authorization process when you switch computers.

@Raptorsevens

Reasons why not to use steam:

  • Dependency on Steam authorization servers to play the game
  • (Minor) increased bandwidth taken by Steam process
  • Longer log in times after a crash (waiting for steam to log in and check for updates)
  • Increased difficulty to multibox
  • Incompatibility with Linux (?)
