What about fouth of July?

Or Rememberance Day?

Or hannukah?

Or Kwanza?

I'll tell you why.

Because it's not universal.

Atheists do christmas as well, and easter, and there's Vanetines day, again, which is universal. And halloween.

There are several chirstian holidays that aren't used.

-_-

IDK if it's racist but when you are clueless about the religion, it's kinda hard to put a promotion for it.

Why don't you suggest one? I'm sure if you put a decent suggestion about it they may consider it ^ ^

Calling people racist left and right is not a good idea... You could say that a lot of religion did not have their promotions... We got no promotions for Canadian, is that racism? IDK where to draw the line but if you want a Muslim promotion, you should propose one instead of claiming one.

Beside there are plenty of religions in the world. If we celbrate them all, every week would be special.

Note that we didn't celebrate christmas, it was "winterfest".
They tried to separate it from christians and gave it a generic name.

Winterfest has nothing to do with Christianity. It's an inoffensive, generic, winter-related holiday much like the holiday simply known as "Holidays" in America. Halloween is done, nothing to do with Christianity. Valentine's Day and Fourth of July were done, and by this point it should be obvious that Spiral Knights is not tied to a religion in particular; it's tied to America. These are all American holidays. I suspect the only reason they don't do Thanksgiving is because no enemies are easily reskinned into turkeys. (Snipes?)

The winter holidays, winter

The winter holidays, winter solstice celebrations pre-date Christianity and Islam, and are not religious in nature, but basically a party to cheer you up at the darkest time of the year and usher in the sun returning. OOO were right to do winterfest and keep religion out of the game.

Perhaps a 'desert' promotion might be better instead of specifically bringing in a religion. Desert armor/weapons...nothing reskinned....would be cool.(No turbans.)

I don't think it's a bad

I don't think it's a bad idea, but it would be a nightmare for online game companies to make events for every single cultural event; there would be events everyday, pretty much.

*Sigh* Really? Allow me to be blunt for a minute here...

No. No, they shouldn't. And people shouldn't think that they get to have special treatment just because they have a different religion. They never catered to any other religion (no, not even Christianity), and they're not going to cater to yours. Winterfest != Christmas. Winter holidays are common throughout the world. Besides, Christmas was originally a pagan holiday and is widely celebrated by non-Christians. People should also learn to put suggestions where suggestions belong: in the Suggestions forum.

I could say something really

I could say something really uncouth here but I think I'll actually keep to myself on this one and just say it's a stupid idea. No one should get special holidays for their beliefs, and expecting special considerations to celebrate your holidays in a public setting where a vast majority would probably have absolutely no idea what it meant to begin with just opens up the main ways to being insulted, either through lack of oversight on OOO's part or through lack of consideration through the players' part.

tl;dr - No.

I think this is a good idea. If we also honour my, among others', ancestors by having something like the Uppsalablot every four years. Nine men were sacrificed at every Uppsalablot. We could do that by deleting nine accounts! Of course, it wouldn't be fun unless they were active accounts, preferrably with as much CE and stuff in the Arsenal as possible.

Anyway, as said, there are no religious events and I appreciate that. I think many of us do. So no.

The current themes include wizards (Magic Cloak), cowboys (Gunslinger), medieval European knights (Cobalt Helm), Renaissance fencers (tabards and chapeaus), ninjas (Acheron), modern demolition dudes (Demo), robots (Love Puppy helmet), and miscellaneous furries? I don't see why "Arabic costumes" shouldn't be added to this rich potpourri.

Involving religion in the game will only ever lead to Trouble.
I have absolutely no care as to who or what you worship in real life as long as a) you don't forcibly drag me into it and b) you don't start sacrificing young virgins or stuff like that.

We do not have any religious events in the game. Winterfest is a generic holiday. Halloween has also been turned into a generic sort of holiday over the course of time. And many of the people who celebrate Chinese New Year have no idea about the deities behind the whole thing, including baking the Kitchen God cakes. I find the situation involving both of the latter two events to be fairly depressing, but that is the case nonetheless. If we include Muslim stuff, people will start to complain about the lack of Christian, Jewish, Hindi, Sikh and Pastafarianist things, and then we'd get into the whole kerfuffle about Orthodox and Roman Catholic. (Buddhists and Taoists would probably not complain because they're cool like that.)

Needless to say, I do not even want to go there.
There's a lot more I could probably add, but I will leave it at this:

Please leave religion out of the game.
Thank you.

So, let me get this straight...

Are you asking for something specifically MUSLIM, or for styles that take cues from the MIDDLE-EASTERN geographical area? "Muslim" =/= the Middle-East; It's the dominant religion of the region, but then again, there are huge populations of Muslims now in the UK and Europe. Not always synonymous.

It would be like saying you want more "Catholic" armor when instead you want armor inspired by Roman soldiers.

Assuming I'm right about all the above, I agree: +1 for possible middle-eastern armor and weapon designs. That could be cool, assuming there's room in this game for more weapons and armor than we currently already have without being redundant.

In case I'm wrong: then no. IMO, I'd want to keep SK secular of all religious ties and the game's setting free of polarizing modern-day/real-world connections.

...he said Muslim.

If he said 'Arabic' or 'Malay' or something that actually made slightly more sense, I would be slightly more inclined to support it, but then I would also get equally grumpy at the fact that this is in the suggestions forum when it is not in fact a suggestion. But then again it got moved there from General Discussion and the OP probably wasn't really thinking of putting much detail in to start with. What kind of costumes would you even use to mark the end of Ramadan?

Proceeding the explosion...

If we make an E.I.D party, then players would demand to make other religious parties like a Greek party, french party, etc... The game can't handle all types of parties, so no offense. I'm not saying this idea is stupid and all, it's just that we can't fit every religious party in Spiral knights.

Time for History lessons again

@Bopp :

Bedouin are like travelers that don't stay in one place for a long time. They go from place to place for water and food for their herds. They are scattered in the desert and may find a group of them inside the desert. But nowadays, most of the Bedouin moved to the cities and is living their. You can find many of them around the Middle-East, be it either in North Africa, or the Arabian Peninsula or even in Mesopotamia.
.
.
The Janissary are something completely different than the Bedouin. When the Ottoman began to rise to power, they had many refugees from battles and wars, so they decided to take the young kids from different cultures and countries and educate them from the scratch. They made them Muslims, and to be servants for the Sultan forever, and never go back in their words. Jani in Turkish means "new" if I recall correctly, and Janissary means the "New Forces", they were considered as the strongest legion in all of the world at that time, beating the Hungarians, Spanish, and even they reached Vienna. However, after some years, they began to stop listening for orders, and make rebellions when they don't like the Sultan, so when "Sultan Mahmoud II" took in charge , he decided that the Janissary should be eliminated because they became dangerous on the community. He bombarded them in a place, and their story ended.

@Everyone :

For people asking about E.I.D, I'll gladly answer you. In Islam, we only have 2 holidays :

1. Eid-al-Fitr or Feast of breaking the fast.
2. Eid-al-Adha.

In the first one, we celebrate because we finished our fasting in the month : Ramadan or let's say between August and September. While in the second one, we celebrate because of finishing "Al Hajj" also known as Pilgrims.
.
.
.
I guess that the OP means something related to Middle-Eastern Culture and not Islam in specific. Because Islam isn't only in the Middle-East, it is spread around the world recently, it even reached South America, East Asia etc...

yes

Dragneel-Wiki, I know that bedouin and janissaries are two completely different things. I was just trying to find interesting costumes from the southwest-Asian region.

I hope that everyone here knows that "Muslim" and "Arab" are not synonyms. The original poster was pretty clearly talking about Muslim events. But the thread changed in post #19 to being about introducing elements of Arab culture into the game, such as costumes. That's why I started poking around for interesting dress from the southwest-Asian region.

OOO/Sega is using the general location of spiral knights (ala US, 'murica, etc.) and using the general holidays, the ones that are more retail-oriented than religious (note: no easter event of yet (greek or elsewise), I don't recall a 4th of july event, etc.)

I would love Southwest Asian clothes and a desert blade but I'm not sure about adding Islamic holidays to the game.

This could probably cause things related to Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism, etc., because people would find it unfair to add an Islamic feature, and they may consider Three Rings racist for not one of these other religions.

Winterfest is NOT religious like other people said.

Just a thought...

I was thinking...

Ooo has done weapons from the knight's times, as well as weapons from Manifest Destiny times (American movement west including revolvers and semi-auto rifles), and even weapons across civilizations (sealed swords reminiscent of the Chinese straightswords?). A middle-east type of weapon doesn't seem bad, but I'm not sure if some of the weapons can be fitted into the game, and if existing weapons are already doing a similar role to the ones suggested. The cutter line seems to remind me of a falchion/scimitar weapon though.

Okay there are no muslim festivals and no hindu i am totally fine with that. OOO has taken components from all religions remember the name of ash of agni. Agni is the hindi word for fire and a hindu god(fire of course). And they can't do any thing on EID since muslims fast on that festival and pray to their god. And anyway about a million indians live in the US and celebrate diwali and holi but you don't find any indian complaining about having other festivals.
