Game Closes Randomly, Can't Re-Log In

I know this could just be a steam issue, but since the last patch my game has been acting weird. specifically, sometimes (not often, but three times in the last four days) the game will just suddenly close with no explanation. Nothin running. Then, when I try to log back in - especially if I was in a level when it happened - the game will just freeze instead of re-loading me like it should do, and I get a message about Java having stopped working.
Reinstalling Java has done NOTHING. I want to know why this keeps happening. It makes me worried that I can't play longer levels. So far this has happened TWICE during the Ironclaw Munitions Factory's first floor as well as once in the Guild Hall.

EDIT: Now even the title isn't true - I restarted Steam AND SK, but it just crashes again on log-in. The message is about the platform SE binary or something. I can't find a fix for it!

Have you reinstalled the game? Could be a corrupted patch that screwed the game files and force closes your window when an error occurs.

Oh, don't even GO there. The steam client means it would take all DAY to reinstall the game.
As I've just added in the first post, it says something about the Java Platform SE Binary.

Refusing to take my suggestion to fix your game. Good luck fixing the game then.

It's not that I'm refusing.

It's not that I'm refusing. It's that it will be so time consuming that it seems an illogical choice. I've managed to get it working again but I've no idea if and when it'll crash again.
If installation took about half an hour to an hour then yes, I'd do it. but it doesn't. for a game like Spiral Knights it can take up to an entire day for steam to install. That's not worth it and a wasted day for timed items such as the Elevator Pass.

It is still a liable choice as it has been shown to effectively fixed many client-sided problems. The game is 300mb large only, how does a game that size take so long to download on a game service provider that is recognized world-wide. Even on 256kb/s internet speed, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. If there is a problem with downloading, then please check in on your internet service provider.

The only error I can find is a corrupted file, that force closes your game when a minor error occurs. Therefore you receive random crashes, but in fact there are some problems that occur. It is not java's fault as there has been no recent updates on Java, and that if you have not been editing any java base codes, then no error should occur from there. The game does run on java, but errors in the game can cause java to crash anyway.

You also stated that "since the last patch update", so I can conclude that it was a corrupted patch update.

Here's the complete effective way of reinstalling a game

#1) check that you have a stable connection, to prevent file corruption.
#2) Delete the whole game content file (spiral knights folder) @ C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common
#3) Reinstall the game through Steam

Well, since it just happened

Well, since it just happened again making for a total 3 times in one day now, I guess I have no chioice. *groan* Re-installing.
oh, and 200 kb/s speed? I wish. I get good speed everywhere else but on steam I'm lucky to average 100 KB/s or less.

Reinstallation Didn't Work

I've followed the advice in this thread, but reinstalling didn't work. I will be playing, game will crash, and I can't log in until the mission has kicked me out for being idle.
