ASI... On Bombs!

So, you're wearing a Swiftstrike Buckler, and you're charging away your bombs. You see that it has ASI High, but it's not doing anything.

So, what do? Make the ASI of Bombs affect the timer on the fuse. Other weapons have different charge times, with Biohazard having a charge time of like .25 seconds at CTR max, and the Alchemers taking 3 seconds. Why not give bombs different fuse times, with the effect of ASI? Instead of taking 3 seconds* to detonate after being placed, maybe a Vortex could drop down to 2 seconds after being charged!

'But Whimsy, that's a horrible idea! Stop suggesting things! We still need to nerf Chaos! Stop saying this stupid stuff!'

No, no! Stop right there. Instead of nerfing Chaos, which has made Mad Bomber obsolete, give Mad Bomber ASI Med in addition to its CTR Med and DMG Med boosts.

Imagine ASI Max... On bombs? The Gremlins are already soiling their trousers. Overpowered? Probably! But since when has balance ever existed? Bombs are bombs. They go boom. They blow things up. By nature, they're not something to just shake off. Add something else for Bombers to up their arsenal.

*given is merely an example not based on actual fact

ooh ooh pick me pick me

actually ASI does have an effect on bombs
it makes you able to juggle them quickly

I kid you not, it does have a noticeable effect on the time it takes you to lift up and lower a bomb.
Fuse time modifiers would be nice, but not as a function of ASI. That wouldn't really make much sense.

Why so? The 'attack' of a sword is how you swing it. The 'attack' of a gun is how fast you raise it to fire the bullet. Why can't the 'attack' of a bomb be how long it takes to detonate after being placed? After all, that is the only way bombs can 'attack', and 'attack speed increase' should do as it says.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

I support. I was thinking of suggesting it but I was too scared to. >.>

Yes, it would help bombs a lot. The only thing bad about it is if you like to put bombs before starting a fight. Then you can't have a bomb go boom the instant they spawn. However I guess having a bomb fuse go so fast that it blows up before they can do much makes up for it.

Oh, and can this have double the effect on shard bombs? :D

Fuse time reduction 2.0

Still say they should just make a fuse time reduction effect..
Or review msi as a whole and actually add it to the game...

But anyway, +1 the idea, +1 calling out the game's balance.

ASI = how long it takes to move something into place

Changing the function of ASI on bombs into something completely different wouldn't make much sense.

I am all for fuse shorteners. But I suspect that tweaking ASI to cause such an effect would result in a considerable amount of reworking for the game's mechanics. Currently it works the same way with bombs, guns and swords, but your description would result in having to completely rescript the effect for an entire weapon type.

Instead, create a new effect to be put on the Mad Bomber and in trinkets: Fuse Time Reduction.
It would make more sense, probably be easier to implement, and be less confusing.

problem

Bombers usually like to place bombs down before arenas start. So if, because the bomb fused quicker, the mist dissapears or it explodes too early, I think people would be frustrated.

my 2 cents

actually ASI does have an effect on bombs

It actually does... I saw that first hand when testing with a Switfstrike buckler.

Make the ASI of Bombs affect the timer on the fuse

I disagree... If we do that then it would be Ash/Tempest/Venom/Haze spam fest and would render some bombs useless...
