Aside, of course, from letting multiple people play under the same account (which is not advisable anyway)
So... what is the purpose of multiple characters?
So you can switch colors?
The only real reason i can see is so that you can make a 2nd different colored knight, upgrade all of your 1st knights gear at once (don't equip), mail it to your new different colored knight, and now you have a new knight in a different color with your current equip. Then mail everything you own possible to the new knight.
I'm considering starting an alt since I have some friends who have just started playing and I'm already in 4* gear. More likely though, I'll just put on my proto equipment again to play with them as if I were just starting out too.
@ Choobski, your gear will scale down to tier 1 and tier 2 levels if you start at the begining with them
The Devs answer to this question is "so you can be in multiple guilds", as I recall.
I know, but it's so I don't look like a show off with my fancy gear. :)
New name
Different colors
Different guilds
Separate arsenals (only way to separate UVs from non-UVs when you UV farm)
Separate Mist Energy bar if you're a paying user on a paid account?
That's about it.
"Separate Mist Energy bar if you're a paying user on a paid account?"
A paid account is given a separate mist bar from other accounts (paid and free), but separate characters on the same paid account still share a mist bar.
I made a new character the other day and took it to the Rescue Camp 'cause I was bored. I then spent a couple hours helping out NooBs with game pointers. It's amazing how little some people understand the game. When I started back in the beta, there was a GM there helping our clueless butts out. Seems like that has been discontinued. There's a bunch of new players in Rescue Camp who have spent all of their mist energy doing single-level practice runs to level up the weak un-upgradeable gear they spent all their crowns to buy. They've been doing this for days now. They're also "utterly amazed" to see your knight sit down. I assisted a few of them in moving on into the white light of Haven.
Anyway, Rescue Camp was actually a pretty cool place to just hang. No reason to burn energy or crowns, no Trade Chat, a giant campfire and a bunch of people just chilling out BSing waiting for ME to recharge. I'm going to be keeping that character in Rescue Camp.
Hmm, rather than desperate people farm with 2 or 3 accounts, I rather they allow 3 characters in 1 account to have their individual mist bar. Eitherway if any player wants to "cheat" so badly, they can still do it. So, I don't see the point. After all, equipments are bounded when equipped, thus, it's already a minor disadvantage for people farming with more than 1 character.
Another thing is that the vendors have different items for each character..
So if a vendor dosnt have the item you want, check the same vendor with an alt..
(Kozma and Token guy excluded)
Pranks.
