I've been trying to get into the LD scene, and I'm finally starting to understand some imbalance issues in T3 and T2, particularly with skolver clones etc.
Everybody likes to use DA and Faust and 2 swipe players, and I even had a lifespan of 1 second out of the locker room by being 1 shot by a Voltech.

"If you can't beat them, join them."

I'm not one to judge, but lately I've been taking my ASI medium Suda into LD and it has some pros and cons. It's really good at surprising other people, it has a good reach, and it's normal attack is unmatched. The only problem is I keep getting interrupted and having to back out of a fight if I'm not toothpicked to death seconds later.

Anybody have tips on using Troika line swords in LD ?

1. Calling the piercing

1. Calling the piercing swords "toothpicks" is like calling a cannon a "pea shooter"
2. Is suda's charge any good in LD? I mean that's the big difference between it and every other "heavy" sword...it's like a bomb, actually.

Well for one the charge

Well for one the charge handles better if you have CTR and ASI to recover from it, but if you hit someone if it doesn't kill them, it stuns and knock backs them away.

But the thing is people go striker a lot, so they will see it coming. It's best if you buddy up with a Voltaic Tempest bomber or Shiver Partner.

My advice

The troika line in general is something you have to get used to in LD. Using one with a striker might not be such a good choice unless you have max asi total (med from striker class + your uv + vog piece).

The sword really shines in team-aid fights, where there are a ton of skolvers stabbing each other and you release a charge right in the middle of them (I killed a whole team with my triglav charge).

The main classes that are best beneficial in conjunction with your Sudaruska would be either the recon or guardian. Recon + mark + your sword = one heck of a hit for any skolver. Also, just swing once, then cloak. Seiran (major gunner) sometimes uses his triglav with recon. Whenever he hits me with the mark on, I lose half my health, and I have 2 tetra heart pendants o_e

For Guardian, it's all about timing the swing. Release your shield at the right time and swing to counter a striker's attack. I see a lot of gran faust users doing the technique, but I've also seen a decent amount of sudaruska users doing the same thing.

Imo my experience with Trokia

Imo my experience with Trokia line id say unless you have a Max ASI-CTR UI it wont be too great (being interrupted over and over sucks, especially if youre trying to get a two hit combo to push someone away). While its a good weapon and the stun is powerful, slow weapons normally get overwhelmed unless youre using a Warhammer.

Also what Terra said, alot of the play with the Trokia line is swing timing. If you get good swings and charges youll do great damage, especially make sure to take advantage of players fighting someone else. Thats always when i get in my really good hits, when others are fighting and a nail someone with a Triglav charge hit or a two combo swing.

There are some blatant downsides to troika vs un-sealed though. If my memory serves me right, all trokia weapons have a larger recovery time than both un-sealed swords and the warhammer, warhammer has the fastest swing recovery (but has the longest charge swing recovery as well as major openings with charge hits). What i mean by that is the ability to immediately bring up a shield after a swing. If you have a Warhammer, try it as Guardian, its pretty fun. I might be wrong on that though, might have to do some research to confirm it.

hi cool.

> Try to stick with using first swing and then retreating/sidestepping. More experienced players will dash away to make you miss your 2nd swing if you combo right away, which leaves you vulnerable for punishment afterwards.

> If you MUST use second swing, delay it and use it controlled: You can hold attack and step forward or backwards almost 3/4 of a tile, then release for the actual second swing. Using this predictively, you can nail a second slash to counter an opponent's "counter-attack" against your first swing.

> Pretty much everyone's armor has Normal defense. Recon's deathmark removes all defense.

> When players are hit during cancellable animations, they become invincible for about half a second. This means your precious 2-hit charge becomes a single-hit charge where only the first (weaker) hit deals damage. Examples of 'uncancellable' animations: The last hit on most weapons, gun reload animation, hammer dash attack, weapon charging, and shock ticks. This said, the best way to really use the charge is in conjunction with a bomb.

One of my most cherished Sudaruska moments in Lockdown was leaving some vortex bombs under the enemy spawn in Reactor. 5 strikers respawned together, dashed straight down into the vortex, ran out of boost, got shocked and nailed with suda charge. I got a triple kill (thanks, shock!), nearly killed the other two with other slashes, but got killed because I got greedy.

I like using Triglav charge

I like using Triglav charge against guardians in a team fight. If they don't take the initial hit (ex they're soaking a hit for a teammate at the time) then the following spash hit crushes their shield and knocks back the rest of their team - pretty awesome

I <3 my glacier on a stick!
