Status effects applying through shields

So Goblins stun me when I block.

Mechanical Men shock me if I block.

I catch on fire when I block.

I get poisoned when I block.

This seems... totally lame. And weird. Also it doesn't make sense.

I can understand if it breaks the shield I get the status ailment. But otherwise, status ailments are so brutal It seems a bit unfair to be getting hit with them when you're doing good and blocking.

I might suggest you find a shield that has status resistances. If the shield only provides defense against damage, that's all you're going to get when you use it.

I get this - so different

I get this - so different kinds of shields + equipment are better suited for different areas and the player is encouraged to collect more. It would be great if you could have custom loadouts of equipment that you could quickswap in depending on the area you're about to jump into. Not really a must, but it'd be a nice perk.

mjohnson, But what I'm

mjohnson,

But what I'm saying is this - If I BLOCK an attack. Meaning I take 0 dmg. It is weird that I can still get hit with a status ailment.

It is particularly annoying when fighting enemies that do lower dmg. Because then blocking becomes pointless. If it isn't going to prevent a status ailment being applied to you, why bother to block when evading the attack or just sucking up the 1 pt of dmg will be the better route?

Simply put The way some of the levels are loaded with status heavy enemies there's no point to block during them. It simply becomes "Rush in and kill" because otherwise you're going to get sleeped, stunned, poisoned, or put on fire if you try to be tactical and block and attack.

And I've worked with stacking armor that has stun resist, but the goblins are just ruthless with their stuns. Particularly shield goblins. Honestly I don't see the point in blocking against them since their stun attack will hit you (because from what I have experienced every attack has the potential to stun) and when you're stunned you're dead in the water.

And remedies are bunk, unless they've been altered in the latest patch, because there's the pause to use them and you're wide open during that time. So they're pretty pointless.

Use your own statuses back at

Use your own statuses back at them. Or better yet just use long range guns like the Silversix.

They have to hit you to inflict you with a status.
