Trinkets revamp

Introduction
Let’s face a fact: no one (excluding a very small minority that includes me) uses trinkets bought from Brinks. Personally, I think any obsolete gear shows a lack of imbalance and thus, this should be changed (just like , but that’s been covered by Luguiru, Fehzor, and Zeddy among others). Currently, due to how defence works, defence trinkets are pretty worthless and resistance trinkets are still quite obsolete in comparison with Elite Modules and Poly-Heart Pendants. Now that I think I’ve listed most flaws, I shall now list my suggested balancing methods in three points as well as an additional point which brings up miscellaneous matters regarding trinkets.

1. Buffing the defence trinkets
Let’s tackle the first issue: defence trinkets are completely obsolete. The reason? Defence is worthless because you can wear pretty much anything (excluding Plate sets) and still be killed in a maximum of four hits in Tier 3. The real fix to this is in my opinion to make defence matter more, but buffing these trinkets would be another option. I do recommend Zeddy and Fehzor’s total armour rebalance for a good read on how rebalancing defence could be done, but if we’re only speaking of trinkets, I’ll settle for having these make a legitimate difference.

2. How it should be done with the resistance trinkets
To be honest, I find the resistance trinkets quite fine; buff them and I believe they might get somewhat overpowered. The thing is that Elite Modules and Poly-Heart Pendants outweigh their use. The simple solution to this would be to educate people, teach them about how you can be completely resistant to the Toxoil Poison and Fire in Compound 42, teach them about how you really can bring one piece of Chaos gear pretty much anywhere with the correct trinket for the floor.

There’s one thing OOO really needs to do about Lockdown balance: make the required resistance to resist a haze bomb completely be 9 (Max+Max+Medium, sorry, Max/Max Skolver clones! You’re simply too OP!). This means you’d be required to bring a resistance trinket or a UV on Shock resistant gear to waltz through Voltaic Tempests, even in the Mercurial set (can it please have more MSI? That’d be really cool).

3. Changing the trinket slot system
No matter these changes and how appealing they might be, the fact that one would still be able to equip two Penta-Heart Pendants and go Skolver Striker tank in Lockdown remains. 12 health is a lot in PvE, too. It’s everything between one hit and another five, depending on resistances and such. I know that you can, for example, reduce damage to just a couple of pips from Kat bites by wearing the full Snarbolax set. Which means that 12 pips equals 6 bites, which would probably kill two or three knights in inappropriate gear.

So, how do we change the imbalance of Penta-Fart Pendants and Elite Modules? We obviously need to reduce their velocity. How about reducing the power of them? Nah. My idea is to change the slot system. In the new system, there are two kinds of trinkets, pendants and whatever. They could be stuff you shove up your b- I mean uh, chest, like Iron Man. Or simply belts or bands that you wear around your wrist like people who think they become better friends just because they have ones identical to the ones of their friends.

Anyway, these have separate slots. The pendant slots are unlocked by a usable that lasts 30 days and costs 150 energy to buy, exactly like the current ones. The whatever slot is unlocked by an item quite like the mentioned one, the difference would be that this one costs 200 energy.

You might be a tad confused, as I’ve yet to mention what goes in what.
-Any trinket bought from Brinks goes in the pendant slot. Existing non-pendant and such Brinks tokens are renamed and will have their icons changed appropriately.
-Any trinket crafted with the Krogmo Alchemy Machine goes in the whatever slots. Note that Poly-Heart Pendants are renamed and will have their icons changed appropriately.
-Purrfect Katnip Pouches go in both slots and give a new stat called 5w4gg3r. Wearing two makes the core open and makes you automatically kill all enemies in Lockdown on sight

4. Miscellaneous changes
-The reintroduction of the Armour Wards, ★☆☆☆☆ through ★★★★★ could prove interesting, although it should be noted that Normal damage is very common and thus, these should be a tad weaker than specialised defence trinkets.

-The reintroduction of the other three removed trinkets might also prove interesting, but does anyone really know what the Scale and Drake Scale Pendants did?

-Nerfing all Poly-Heart Trinkets seems logical to me. Penta means five, not six, after all...

-How about adding abilities exclusive to trinkets, or adding new abilities and adding them to trinkets as well as UVs and armour sets?

-Dual-wielding 6* T4 tortodrone trollaris OP nerf pl0x.

Closing words
Thanks for reading! If you’ve got feedback on these things, please do reply as the idea of the Suggestions forum is to propose ideas, have them refined and hopefully have them implemented. I can only wish for the last of the three but if it happens, the rebalance must naturally be as awesome as possible.

Open question: what happens to those who’ve invested in double Trinkets of some kinds? That would be a hard one to solve. I personally suggest a refund of everything spent on doublet Trinkets.

Why use defense trinkets when spamming brandishes with ctr and damage kills anything in less than a second.
Even if they buffed you to the point of immortality they are not neccesary. Game is too easy when soloing.
Now that's a problem.

About having different types of slots and trinkets.... wouldn't that be too much? Or are we still limited to 2 at a time?
The gap between whealty and poor players would grow and affect LD.

Love your suggestions. And you are right about the whole pentaheart=wrong amount of increased health in my opinion.

But... I don't think the requirement for players to walk through bombs should be Max+Max+Med. That would mean that even a skolver clone (or any set without stun resistance) would never be able to walk through a stagger storm, regardless of max uvs, since there is no Brinks trinket with stun resistance.
Pretty much every set that doesn't have at least some natural resistance would not be able to walk through their own resistance. Plus, not everyone has the luck of the draw to roll the uv they want. This would seriously hurt PvP players (ex. is myself) who don't like to uv roll and have just plain bad luck. This would decrease the appeal of players who are working their way up the game ladder.

Also, the whole "Iron man style" trinket slot system would be too much to implement ingame. OOO would have to do a massive system and graphics change to put it into the game.

p.s. Not all fully loaded skolvers are OP... Nethrom never has trouble picking off enemies, and uses just a Fallen set and toothpick.
Uvs, trinkets, and such do play a role in LD as a whole, but skill is what really matters. (shout out to all people who like to troll in proto gear with a toothpick)

I agree. Max+Max+Med is unecessary. Max+Max+anything at all, including a low, will do just fine. I don't see a problem with skolvers not being able to walk through stun. If they wanna walk through stun, they can use Jelly or Plate like they're supposed to. However, I also don't see a problem with simply adding stun trinkets to Brinks.

An alternative it to simply lower resistance on class armours from +4 to +3. Snarby would be lowered from +3 to +2. Now you can simply get the appropriate armour to be immune to hazes, or, I think, you can go guardian and still benefit from class armour. Bam! Indirect guardian buff! Skolver would still be able to walk through Voltaic Tempest, but at least they also had to roll a UV to walk through Shivermist.

I like this idea in theory, or a similar alternative, though I'm inclined to believe any die-hard Lockdown player will simply roll resistance UVs. But at least they couldn't be 100% resistant to multiple statuses regardless, only one.

@Terra-Necro: Does Nethrom use Fallen? I was pretty sure it was Heavenly Iron.
