God, Argent Peacemaker ruins my intimidating appearance with that giant gun sinking into the ground when I move. Resize 5 star weapons?
5 star weapons are too big
Maybe not all of the weapons? Mmmm... idk... AP is a skinny pistol; pistols shouldn't be that humongous?!?
It's so big, that it sinks into my armor, too.

I think it's more or less to be able to immediately verify what weapon you or your opponent (In LD) is using, without them needing to fire it.

It gets even worse if you're using the 5* Gunslinger armors. The stock on most 5* guns sticks right through the chamber armor that's on their forearms. Which is pretty stupid considering that guns are meant to be used with that armor, but causes the most clipping issues...
I agree that there should be a slight resize on the AP and Sentenza, but also think that quite a few other guns and swords could use a little adjustment in their size. Bombs are fine in my opinion, considering their size and readability from one another except when it comes to a few haze bombs.
As for an AP and Sen fix, reduce the size of the barrel by a little bit so that it doesn't clip with the ground if you're normal height. It would still read well due to the oversized wings and coloration on the gun even with that slight change. They could even reduce the size of the wings a little bit while they're at it and still keep it readable.
AP and Sentenza are as tall as my knight?
True, and they may be a bit oversized even still, but I'm just reminding you that we don't play in second/third person in Spiral Knights. We're like at a 6th person distance on the screen. In LD especially, you should be able to at least see and recognize the weapon they pull out prior to them using it. Even if you can't react fast enough if they're alchemer-switching etc., they can't be too small.
That point aside, I do agree that AP/Sentenza is still too large by a small margin. But don't make it a little peashooter.
Also, I would be against most 5 star weapon resizing. Many of them are fine, especially swords which never clip with the ground because you don't hold them facing toward the ground. Alchemers are highly compact, but AP/Sent are quite large. I can't think of any other weapons off the top of my head, even 5*, that need resizing.

I see your point Severage, but I still think a few weapons could still use a slight resize even with that in mind.
The Leviathan (and by extension the Cold Iron and Lionheart) is a bit large for just being a standard sword and not greatsword. It rivals the Troika lines in terms of size and technically no sword should do that. It's color and shape alone are enough to set it apart from other swords easily, so the extra huge size is kind of unnecessary.
5* Brandishes are a bit wide, but are kind of fine considering that they all look the same save for color so the bigger size helps readability. Still bugs me though.
Alchemers are interesting in that they do read well and are ridiculously compact, but in my opinion have the most boring design for a high-tech gun. But that's a discussion for another day.
And going back to the clipping issues on the armors with some weapons, I seriously think that the Gunslinger lines should be the last set of armor to clip with their designated weapon. It's just bad design to create something that clips that terribly. The entire stock model asset that OOO uses on the guns is clipping right through the armor and that's just ridiculous. Just turning the armor slightly so that the stock runs along the side as opposed to straight through it would be a relatively easy fix, though it might cause some clipping with the shields then. But looking at the Skelly suits and how they clip through EVERYTHING, even ITSELF, I don't think that would be too terrible.
As for the topic on hand, the AP and Sen would be fine if they kept the same barrel size as the Antigua or even the 4* versions since they don't clip nearly as much unless you're shorter than average. Still perfectly readable due to color, shape, and especially shot color when it comes down to that, so just a slight reduction would be fine. Heck, they can even make the barrel have a larger girth as opposed to length and keep that feel of increased firepower from their 4* counterpart.
Wait a second... Maybe the 5* versions are trying to compensate for something...?
This got me thinking ... Fist weapons.
lol.
Now that you mention it, Levis, CIVs, Lionhearts, and Brandishes are rather large for one-handed weapons. They're like the same size as DA/GF. I always thought that was kind of odd considering they're not even 'supposed' to be two-handed weapons (Though, we still use Troikas in one hand...yikes).
I've always thought the Alchemers could look more steam punky...since they already look like a case of beer, change those little cells into soda bottles and it'll at least look like a homemade steam punk gun.
Gunslinger clips with like...everything. Guns, swords, accessories, everything. That's why it has like 2 accessory slots.
"Heck, they can even make the barrel have a larger girth as opposed to length and keep that feel of increased firepower from their 4* counterpart.

....lol
I didn't notice AP/Sent were longer than Silversix/Blackhawk.

Nearly all weapons clip in certain instances.
Clipping is a small price to pay for badassness.
I understand the amount of work that goes into making so many armors and weapon, rigging them, and animating them, so I'm perfectly fine with clipping especially considering the amounts of in game items. Overall, they've done a brilliant job on most every item in the game.
What I am not fine with however, is the clipping that occurs from weapons running into the ground because they couldn't be bothered to reduce the polygons by just a small margin (AP and Sen). What I am really not fine with is when the items they designed clip horribly with ITSELF (Skelly line and Jelly line) or armor that it was MADE to be used with (5* Gunslinger armors and any gun with a stock).
I don't mean to sound to harsh, but it just seems like shoddy worksmanship. Most of those problems I mentioned could be fixed with just a resize, which wouldn't effect the textures too much. The only problems would be resizing on armor, since it may cause problems with the rigging and may lead them to having to reset all of it on that particular armor set.
So in the end, I don't care how badass I look in my Dread Skelly armor if my massive pauldrons are clipping through the rest of my arm and torso. I don't care how badass I look with my Argent Peacemaker and Sentenza if their entire stock is jammed through my armor and sticking out the other end while I drag their barrels through the grounds of the Clockworks. I care for better craftsmanship where my Jelly armor's fauld isn't sticking through my legs as I run around Haven.
... Sorry if that sounded a bit gruff. As an artist and animator I just can't stand things like that, especially when the rest of the art, animations, and overall design of this game are so stellar. It's what hooked me on the game in the first place.
Just a side-note... I'm fairly sure the Jelly Armor's fauld is jiggleboned.
I know how you feel. But maybe another approach could work too. I was thinking change how we carry our guns while walking. What can I say? I like my Needle Dakka (Blitz Needle) to be nice and big. Let's not forget that shield glitch too.
