Alright...I'm going to try and keep as reasonable as possible, I just wanted to share my honest thoughts on the situation, feel free to post about the topic and give your own.
Now I've been playing this game in mid 2011 and officially hit endgame at around the guild hall release of the following year, 2012, I had much fun playing this game as I continued to play through the missions, however after a recent chat with the guys in Tier Zero, I felt motivated to create this thread.
After defeating Vanaduke within his flaming fortress, your Spiral Knight is officially declared a vanguard upon arriving at the ceremony set up for you by the many faces and names who had assisted him/her throughout his journey, once you enter that elevator, you have officially hit Endgame! Congratulations! So what do you get to do now? ...Well...You can replay missions I guess...Or do some danger missions...
The problem is as you most likely expected, Lack of content, I feel no desire to keep playing when we know so little as to what will be coming up next in the game, Pets? Companions to help you fight in the Clockworks? Alright that's cool...But what about after that? Is there another big patch that we don't know about? What about those supposed PvP games that were to be following in Blast Networks initial release? Where are those? What about something for Vanguards to do? Specific Vanguard tasks? What is there to prepare for?
Endgame basically leaves you to do the following:
- Complete daily missions in order to gain prestige for a purely cosmetic badge next to your Knights name.
- Replay missions for the sake of obtaining crowns and items.
- PvP content that I personally don't really enjoy due to UVs and trinkets (I suck, but I'm trying! Honest!)
- Assist newer players to become one step closer to being in our shoes
The Danger Missions pack was good for giving players a hard challenge, but that was at first, now people are blasting through them as if they were simply arcade missions now that we know the ropes to them.
Now I understand that Free-to-play (Abbreviated as F2P) games usually have low budgets to support them, more often than not F2P games lack content due to this reason, From what I understand Sega really doesn't care about this game and Three Rings appears to be a small company that itself doesn't really have much to support them, Spiral Knights doesn't make a lot from it's energy system...I think, it doesn't help that newer players are scared off by the energy system and the self-inflicted prices of the market, but that's another issue already addressed.
I have tons of suggestions for newer content I could leave on the suggestions forum, but I feel like it would be pointless, but by the off-chance they are, what are the chances they would be done? I would love to see a Capture the Flag style game mode in the Coliseum! But if they can't create it for one reason or another...Then what are they doing?
Nick, I truly enjoy this game, I really do, I actually do want to play more, but Endgame is severely lacking and so many players leave because of this, but what is the point to keep playing? Trading CE for other game items on Steam? Using Crowns to purchase accessories for my Knight to stand out from the crowd? Crafting items to make the missions I've done easier? PvPing and using my mist to bribe our large froggy king for extra Kroggies? I don't want to see this game be left behind, I really love it's art style, it's like a breath of fresh air when compared to the gore, blood soaked shooters that occupy game store shelves and Harry Mack's soundtrack is amazing, heck I plan to buy the album, but all this will mean nothing in the long run when people decide they've had enough.
My Thread suffers from Resident Evil 6 syndrome, not really knowing what it's trying to be :p, sorry.
EDIT:
I think I failed at creating a reasonable thread and just another whiner...I've become the thing I hate! D:!
