i also am having problems with gunning in t2
thx for advice
im not a t2 gunner, and have never tried t2 gunning. however, i am a t3 recon gunner sometimes. as with any LD question, first i gotta ask how much you lag. if youre talking a whole second of lag, LD is not gonna work. half a second is already pretty brutal. i figure out how my internet/computer is behaving based on how much time i am allowed to move AFTER i've died. if you start noticing this, its time to throw in the towel.
anyways! if connection isnt the problem then i would recommend trying out recon-gunning. in t2, shadow defense is pretty uncommon so i would guess a shadowtech mk2 would be a nice gun, and i would prolly pick super blaster as my other gun. the tactics are simple, and just require some practice.
1st tactic: the diglet gunner. shoot swap shoot swap = more shots down range. now throw in shoot, cloak, swap and shoot cloak swap. what this does is allows you to put a ton of shots downrange while your enemies cant figure out precisely where you are. keep moving while you do this and it will make it more difficult for enemies to kill you, while providing a constant advantage.
2nd tactic: you are cloaked and there is either: a lot of polaris spam or this crazy juggernaut mofo who kills everyone. remember that you're a recon, and that you can wait till they leave and capture the point once they leave. you can also use that cloaking to get out of situations where you would most certainly die - remember that respawning is almost always slower than running back to heal.
3rd tactic: freeze locking. try out cryotech. if you freeze someone, you can either bring out a stronger attack, such as a charged alchemer or a sword, or you can just leave him there and fight someone else, and shoot him again when the ice breaks. this is SUPER useful to your team, since dead enemies revive, but frozen enemies have to twiddle their thumbs. its more or less the equivalent of a disconnect or leaver for the opposing team.
4th tactic: don't travel alone. recon gunners work great with guardians of any type and bombers. strikers often move too fast for a recon to support as a tag-team. still, trying to follow a speedy striker can often mean you get to surprise attack whoever the striker is fighting.
be mindful that a lot of "pros" will often [wheel] and complain about gunners, the ignore function works wonders :D
The thing with T2 LD gunning is that the guns are usually underpowered. It is a lot harder to gun in T2 because all it takes is a dusker with a toothpick and an SS to come at you and you are unable to stop them. T2 gunning isn't as effective as it could be, but there are some who are absolute beasts at it. It T2, I am able to easily disable a gunner, but in T3 a skilled gunner is just a nightmare. Just a heads up, the guns in T2 are not as powerful or effective as they are in T3 LD.
1. Turn off AA, it dose no good to me...
2. Aim at where the enemy is about to go and not where they currently are
3. Trap your enemy at the corner...
4. Use your environment...use wall/traps to your advantage
5. Distance as an advantage...keep great distance from your targets
6. My former style as a recon gunner: Death mark then shoot(repeat)
7. My former style as a striker gunner: Shoot and run(repeat)
8. Don't spam...it give you no good as your mobility will be sacrifice
-care about grammar.
-alchemers are your bread and butter. a combination of shadowtech-cryotech would be the best, but the others do pretty good job as well.
-get familiar with alch-switching.
-get familiar with shield cancelling.
-DODGE.
-provoke first. the most vulnerable moment of your foe is when he is attacking you. dodge and land the shot.
-if you are recon, imagine a circle around yourself. always stay inside that circle and make sure your opponent is out.
-if you are striker, do the opposite.
Utilize your guns and your dash ability (if you are using striker). What you should do is try to shoot enemies with your voltech first (fire one shot, then dash) in order to inflict shock on them. Then, you can unload 2-3 shots on the enemy with your super blaster to load up damage on them when the shock status makes them stop for a bit.
Another gunner thing (and it's popular with many gunners) is to switch gun. Just basically hitting the attack button once, switching to your other gun, firing once, and switch again, doing it repeatedly. This is a more complicated thing to do, so practice if you want to try this. Also, Auto Target does not really work great with this.
