Simple enough. Why do you keep playing this game?
For the shinies?
The battles?
The epic swag you'll eventually get?
An obsessive need to collect things?
To pay off your upgrade slots?
Poll: What keeps you coming back?
To feel the accomplishment of getting 5* and enjoying the ride.
Motivation of getting my 5* bomber set and battle sprites.
I recently acquired my full on bomber gear and wish to blast people's butts to oblivion.
I don't have any other game or MMO that's very interesting. Mostly I'm just bored and I have officer duties.
I would say its to keep up with all the friends I made in Sk. Tho many have since retired I still talk to those that are left.
A few reasons...
1: Catch up with guildmates.
2: World of Warcraft is in a patch.
3: Sell the stuff I hoard until it appreciates to an unnecessarily high value, to someone who really should've bought it sooner.

I come back so people can send me invites to revive them, grind whatever mission, catch me making dirty jokes, talk about broken things in the game, stare expectantly in town as if I might explode into triangles, and to see what Zeds found out or is doing today. Only two of these I enjoy while the others have my bittersweet hate-love.
Sometimes when I flop around in one game for a while I feel like taking a break, especially if that game is almost the perfect opposite of good old Spinach Newts. The contrast is great for busting down any weariness that might be piling up in the outhouse but since Spear-all Nitwits has had so few content updates for a while outside of little missions or stupid cosmetics these breaks usually only last a few days at most before the only-log-in-before-bed-to-craft-mist-into-poop cycle reboots and the steam engine goes toot toots. I have no idea what the liquids I am saying anymore so I am going to stop this paragraph now.
To repeat the same predictable and uninteresting line, Spiralmon is my last hope for this game being interesting again. It promises a serious content update instead of the same cosmetic reskins which make me want to completely drop this game with every recolor of the exact same set of items. I wish I could say I also enjoy our community but I can only name around twenty people I would not violently strangle or do anything weird to; at least, nothing weirder than my usual shenanigans. Like throwing butter. Where was I keeping it. Anyway, Spiralmon. Please do not be disappointing. Please? Come on, show a little mercy. What if I gave you a foot massage using only my face, would that help you not be disappointing? No teeth. Promise. Okay maybe a little teeth. Who said that?
What do you think you are doing?
What the li- You again? I thought you shelled up in sandwich heaven.
I am the god of BLT sandwiches, I exist everywhere there are sandwiches which contain bacon, ham, pork, and all sorts of pig flesh! Including sandwiches which are simply two slices of bread with the amputated foot of a swine!
That sounds disgusting. Do you know what pigs walk around in all day?
Silence mortal of lesser celery-al power! You have once again committed the crime of writing too much to answer a very simple question, and for that you must be punished!
Well butts, I should use a gag to keep people interested in the post and read it. Otherwise they just zoom right by it and splatter on the wall that was obviously in front of them.
Your punishment shall b-
By the way, I had a huge sandwich with a lot of ham in it today.
All is forgiven. Now spread my delicious glory to the non-believing vegans and their blasphemous ways, my child, for I must return to the holy refrigerator meat drawer in the skies.
And then everyone died.
He is sure the most awesome deadpool.
My favourite Marvel character....
The updates are what's left for me. Though slow and became far between, I still want to see what promising elements get added.
To chat with friends.
Actually I have no idea...It's really boring except PvP. They are either too easy and get bored or hard thing is expensive to practice and do everyday (I mean RRT, RRT is just evil.)
So I can honor Feller by having an AT on while playing lockdown.
that is my objective for now. later on, I may get sliced/toothpicked/blasted in LD or I may get blasted in BN. still have to decide.
I started playing because I was invited to play. However what made me want to play it was that this game was slightly similar to the dream game I had imagined. But of course it no where near close to it. The only things that made me look back at it are collecting, music, the art style, and the fact that it is co-op. Other than that its a total wreck.
The mist is the only reason I continue to return.
Been playing for about two years now, and still going strong. @Incendere, dude, the things you listed are the main selling points of the game! The retro tunes, the techno art style, and co-op multiplayer are the features I tell people about when advertising it.
I still love this game. Sure, it has its faults and unused features (I'm lookin' at you, Arcade), but that doesn't break the game. I still enjoy PUGs in the mission system, get kicked for being rich, derp around in KoA with Chaos, Swiftstrike Paper, & Hammer of (my) Sudden Death just 'cause I can, laugh maniacally whenever my Sudaruska charge connects, and prance around Haven with good friends and guildmates. I've never had so much fun in an MMO.
And that's what brings me back.
You can never have enough experience. And it's another game to play when I get bored of playing bug princess. But to tell you the truth i'd rather play bug princess.
And I have yet to craft my mixed set.
Between all the bullet-hell shooter games I have it's nice to have a casual game once in a while.

The amazingly well created, well crafted world
SK has mass amount of flaws. The devs clearly didn't have the games success in perspective and through a half arsed game at us. The simple fact it has been changed and reviewed several times makes my point.
Major flaws
1. faulty anatomically improper armor sets
2. poor combat structure
3. co-op deviation (LD)
4. lacks a projected objective
In the end all I see is OOO veering into our pockets and leaving out the important requirements to make this game great and structurally sound.
And yet, you still continue to play.
The cycle continues.
Continue to play? Nah.
I just hang around the forums, cause OOO did leave me with some good memories over the time I played.
But there's honestly nothing to keep me playing except IG friends.
And no offense to any of yall, but I'd rather strengthen a relationship with an IRL friend than an IG one.
Eventually I'll end up leaving here too.
And life will go on.
To get some epic costumes (You have no idea of how long I've been searching for a Heavy Mohawk).
Saying hi to guildies and mist-crafting. Then I log off due to lack of content :(
boredom
and making a litlle bit of money haha (by the time a game i want will be released i'll probably have enough CE to trade it hehe)
The thing that keeps me coming back these days have gradually devolved into just playing Lockdown for 2-4 games and spending my 100 mist on crafting two 2* items in hopes of a UV. Having explored every bit of the currently discovered parts of the Clockworks and obtained a respectable arsenal of weapons and armour I am finding it difficult to log on for some good ol' Clockworks exploration when it's mostly about raiding the burning citadel of the Almirians. As much as I like the fact that the missions gave us lore about this world I am sad to see that the Arcade has become deserted as a result. Were it not for this I would probably stay for a little while longer than just 35 minutes a day.
I'll go with swag, LD, and the hope that OCH will one day be released to CE purchase.
Aeonic Doom, Zeddy, Zeddy's experiments, progressing with new and exciting gear. I am at the stage at which many would've stopped getting new gear ages ago. Lockdown is still quite entertaining. Just a short while ago, I tried out my Glacius with full heat for the first time in LD and I did very well. Somewhat troubled by my triggers on my gamepad, though. Need to work on that.
The fact that SK is one of few Action MMMORPGs out there remains. Do I love SK? Yup, I do, even though someone really needs to fix the balance a tad.
Making a gun that fires SCIENCE !!!!!
Also i know the exodus formula:
No Veterans means no Swag, and no swag means no Grog, and were running dangerously low on grog.
When I'm finally done with 5* HoH, I'll just advertise the hipster equips and screw up the game.

Guy1: Hey! Did ja get your wolver set yet?
Guy2: Nope, skelly.
G1: What?!
G2: Yup, skellying the whole game.
G1: But snarbo-
G2: Some guy wearing snarbolax gear said that wolver isn't worth it. Makes the game boring.
G1: Huh, wonder if he's right. *Tries it out*. Me gusta.
G2: Me gusta.
G3: Me gusta.
G4: Me gusta.
G5: Me gusta.
...
G998456: Me gusta!
UV'S
there ALWAYS has to be some way to spend loads of cash for a gamble.. whyyyyyyyy
also stagger storm
updates + new gear + maybe some bug fixes eventually....
Why do you keep playing this game?
Let us be honest; is there any reason not to keep playing this game?
On a serious note, I personally enjoy the usual events with interesting new item content. Plus, there's always that sense of handsomeness when playing.
never experienced boredom? good for you. but the older players have nothing to do after clearing the SLs and getting every item on the face of cradle.
+1 to that!
I might log on sometime soon to see what the commotion seems to be about. Doubt I'll stay long after though.
the game is just so easy to pick up. I played in beta and loved it, but split up with my girl right around launch, got busy with writing and kinda forgot it. Came back a week ago and it's expanded so much!
I really like the gameplay, the art style, the world, and, as Dekar said, "the game is just so easy to pick up".
And to get more shiny rare things.
I ask that question in-game everyday.
I stay because... HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, GOOD QUESTION!
EDIT: Oh, I remember why. One day, I hope to get some friends who will make a militia with me, and we will play arcade forever and ever. THE ARCADE WILL BE UNDER MY CONTROL; I'M A STORAGE OF MINERALS!
our*
I always just go to the media section of this site, and I go back to the promotional videos, and I look back at the beginning of this game, what is was about and the fun adventure of exploration and newbing around that I had with strangers. I'm waiting for that to happen again, but for now, I am a loner, strolling the arcade with w/e stragglers with to join, only to leave me once we reach basil.
Because of those moments when I'm not sucking/lagging and everything is going awesome, and the giant bosses, art style, music, armor, bosses, and the really, really fun-to-use weapons, etc. I also love the fact that Free players can get nearly every item in the game with enough time/grinding. It makes the game not "Pay to Win" and more "Pay to do it Faster."
Out of the many (F2P) MMO's I've tried, there were only three I consider decent games, and this is the only one that was good enough to stick with ( playing off and on).
Only thing I don't like is the lack of content (and grinding for more gear). :(
I want some new bosses/mini-bosses.
Black Kat was neat because it spawned Zombies, and I'm interesting in fighting Margrel.
I would hope the Tortodrone would return because it sounds/looks awesome.
I guess the knights are very cute looking and this makes it easy to talk to other people.
its easy to care about the brave little knights who always manage to save the day.
Little heros that anyone will care as long they try there best.
Hard to do that in real life there are no monsters to fight no princesses to save not anything that will even last for more than a few years.
I can hardly tell why I do anything now. I'm just waiting for sleep to close my eyes as soon as I wake up.
I guess I'm here because at the end of the day I'm not much more than a lonely spirit.
I look at the real world and feel depressed. I can't die in real life no matter how pointless it is so maybe I can die In a game as a knight against villain and if someone remembers my name even just one person.
It will be worth more than anything than I will be able to do in this world.
This alien world bathed celestial fire
caught my eye as I wandered by
some might say I'm a liar
but all I can do is say good bye
"Why do you keep coming back, Kocoa?"**
Hmm... Good question, why the hell would I return to such a 2-bit MMO with such a small population and exploitable economy? That's probably the reason "WHY" I come back.. Spiral Knights possesses such a small community that making relationships and memories is almost too simple. The people on Spiral Knights are few. The mature ones are even fewer. But I'm determined..
Determined to make the memories that so many veteran players have claimed are no longer part of SK. Spiral Knights will only die if you let it to. But until that day comes, I'll just keep coming back... Because it's not the game.. It's the community. That's why I play games. Whether it be Halo 3, Team Fortress 2, Spiral Knights, World Of Warcraft, or anything else... The community is what drives me to continue. To establish relationships.. To make friends with individuals who live hundreds of miles away... To connect with someone who may live in another country... The internet is a grand and expansive frontier. There is so much I've yet to even scratch. But I'll do my best...
Also Costumes. I need to look pretty.
Boredom.
Nothing ever really happens in my life.
