I have 3 in mind atm, Valiance, Polaris and Argent Peacemaker. I dropped the idea of taking a Blitz Needle because I think rooting yourself to the ground would be a quick way to suicide. Is there any gun that I'm missing? Which of these is the best for soloing Vana? (just the throne room, not the whole FSC)

There have been many threads about this, so consider searching the forums (using Google, say --- not the forum search function). I've soloed Vanaduke with Valiance, Callahan, Blitz Needle, Argent Peacemaker, Nova Driver, Storm Driver, Polaris. In general, you want mobility, status, and high damage. Keep in mind that Vanaduke's body is a bit weak to piercing. Many people end up just going for high damage --- Blitz Needle. Argent used to be better than it is now, because it did some piercing damage.

And how should I use it? I mean, in stages 1 and 3 it would be pretty easy because you can just bait him and shoot Vana in the back, but in stage 5 you have the Slag Guards that just go running around...

two tactics
Some people ignore Vanaduke, kill the slag guards, and then kill Vanaduke. Depending on how quickly you can do this, you might have to face multiple waves of slag guards, though.
Other people ignore the slag guards, just circling around Vanaduke as tightly as they can, firing on him. As long as you keep moving, the slag guards will just charge past you. In practice, small errors and the presence of floor fire can make things difficult.

So I should be fine with any not shadow gun as long as I know how to use it and dodge the guy?
Also, how does the shock affect Vana? Maybe Supernova would be better than Polaris.

As far as I remember, shock helped. So Polaris isn't a bad idea. I remember it working fairly well. The bullets are slow, but Vanaduke's a big slow pig.
Yes, I guess you could say that any non-shadow gun will work. If you try the fight several times, with several different guns, you may find that you prefer some over others, though. It seems that most people on those forums end up preferring Blitz Needle.

Blitz neede. For the first 2 stage just blitz when he attacks. For the Last stage you wanna take out a polaris if you don't have a shivermist, but if you do just shiv and blitz.
Personally I didn't have shiv so I soloed him polaris and blitz needle... Just beware of lag.

when i first did vana, i ran him with supernova. in a 4 man party, this can take quite a long time. AP is similarly slow. strike needle in comparison, was faster than my runs with AP, supernova, polaris, and some various alchemer double equips i did while heating them. i've also run vana with a volcanic pepperbox, but i honestly dont remember anything about the dps (definitely lower than blitz, not sure how much). in short, nothing comes close to autogun charge attacks for DPS, especially if you have CTR enhancements. it does lock you in place, but vana's attacks are very slow, so a quick shield cancel will get you out of 90% of attacks without breaking a sweat.
all you have to do is bait vana to attack. when you see his attack animation beginning, step out of range, and release your charge. rinse and repeat. you can also trick vana to stay relatively in place. release your blitz charge, and as he is finishing his attack animation, walk into range again, and walk out again. if you have max ctr and high asi, you just move left and right in virtually the same spots as vana keeps hitting the same spot.
regarding the slags guards, what i do is try to keep vana in between me and the slag guards. this can often corrupt their charge, so that it misses, but more often they end up humping vana's back in some hot bromance.

Shock is fantastic against
Shock is fantastic against Vanaduke; the ticks interrupt his charge, which can mean a lot depending on your other gear. Polaris and Storm Driver (the ricochets will bounce against his fireballs, for even more damage) are good choices.

When I was a wee Tier 2, my guild master accidentally invited me to the FSC party instead of an officer. Being nice as he was, he did not kick me. Instead, he soloed it with a dead weight (me) dragging him down. He soloed it with a polaris, just spamming those explosions and knocking are those slags and crusaders (or whatever those zombie trojans are called) and killed Vana with ease

Try a Supernova + Swiftstrike combo. As long as you have some dodging skills, you'll be able to take down Vanaduke with ease.

Best guns to solo Vana because of mobility.
Blitz was horrible and idc if I don't know how to use it. It roots you, you can't move, and that's that. Vana's mace will always hit you. If you said you dodged Vana's mace with blitz needle, u lie.
Note that Polaris does significantly weaker damage against Vana than Supernova.
With DMG VH Supernova: 203 Polaris: 161 (excluding shock)
Why get Polaris when you already have a Voltedge or Voltaic Tempest?

you have to know how to manipulate vana's aggro. here it looks like hes using max ctr and at least asi high. get vana to swing, and shoot him after he does, rinse and repeat.
blitz is super fast for a vana job. everything else is much, much slower to the point of boredom. i used to do vana in a 4 man party with supernovas/polaris and it always took at least 10 minutes. you can see the damage done pales the supernova - which would you rather have, nearly 300x15 dmg per volley or 203x3?

To all the haters of polaris: If you're doing it solo, there's no one else to piss off or annoy with its knockback ;)
I just got the Blitz, it's by far the best gun i own for taking down Vana quickly. I never realized just how powerful it is.
Prior to a few weeks ago, i'd usually run with the Silversix, which is a very good option in that you can essentially solo him without even being touched, due to the mobility, but the fight drags on and on (it can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes). I can't imagine that the Argent Peacemaker would make the fight any shorter, but with that kind of mobility, you won't even need pills.
I find the Master Blaster less effective than the Silversix. The Silversix line has the advantage of being quick, so the bullets can penetrate Vana's fireball shield more effectively than the Master Blaster line.
After going a year and a half without the blitz, i would urge you to consider getting it. It'll make soloing a much quicker affair.
