(Fan-Fic) Opening the Rift
Prologue
Recon Frigate: Blazing Sun, Eos Orbit (225M Km from Cradle)
-
Far above a tranquil and mysterious water planet a hard grey ship travelled across the poplars of the planet, searching for something of interest. Welded into the side of the ship was is name, The Blazing Sun. The ship itself had been ordered by Spiral HQ to do a recon of the local system before their arrival. The planet Eos was the first that the crew of the Blazing Sun had encountered, while scanning the planet a strange signal was sent to the Blazing Sun.
“So you’re saying that it is drawing power into the core of the planet?” A dry and husky voice would speak from a domed seat that stood isolated from all the terminals that flashed shades of red, green and yellow. The command deck of the ship housed all of the Tech-Knights who were posted on every terminal, all performing a completely new and complex task than the last. A skinny Tech-Knight would spin around to face the back of the captain’s seat.
“W-we believe that is precisely what is happening, if it weren’t for our outflow shields we might be pulled into the planet too.” The Tech-Knight wore silk robes and had his name ‘V. Huges’ imbrued into the white silk as well as a skull with crossed swords going through it – the insignia of Section-Seven. This explanation intrigued Captain Alexander and was all he needed. The egg-like chair began to turn at a turtle’s pace, as the figure with its arms folded that sat in the padded seat came into a beam of vertical light it lifted its head to Tech-Knight Huges.
“I wonder how many other planets are like th-” Before the Captain could finish his sentence the entire command centre began to siren an almost deafening alarm. Like a hive under attack all the Knights in the room scrambled across the deck attempting to figure out just what was happening.
“SIR! We are getting a priority-one distress call from the Skylark!”

- Chapter 1
Unlike the other knights who ran about the command like children playing in a sandbox, Alexander remained in a cool and reserved state. As engineer and scientists alike gathered around a single terminal, that was when the Captain finally broke out of his silent state.
“Enough!” Alexander would not yell out but he would make his presence known above the untenable racket and fuss being generated from what was supposed to be of the most professional Spec-op teams within the ranks of the Knight Order. Immediately a dead calm pulsed not just on the command deck but throughout the rest of the ship. The Captain would himself from the cupped seat and stretch his arms and leg in an over dramatic fashion before he turned his attention to the communication terminal which has its Tech-Knight already alert and awaiting orders from Alexander.
“Knight, did we receive and message from the Skylark?”
“Sir, we did indeed. Audio only I’m afraid however.”
Alexander would rub his thumb and index finger together before finally nodding.
“Play it.”
The Tech-Knight would nod without any hesitation and face the terminal; he would press a sequence of buttons in a timely order. For a moment nothing would happen, eyes dashed around the room awaiting some sort of explosive event, but nothing of the kind happened, rather there was a sudden crackle of static which caught one or two of the less fearsome knights off guard then the distress call began to play.
“Attention, Attention. This is Skylark broadcasting on all emergency frequencies. We have entered the system near the planet Cradle but have lost all control over the ship and our core is going into Drive Meltdown. Please, all available ships respond. We hav-” During the broadcast several explosions as well as screams and sirens were booming in the background. All attention in the Command Room now focused on the Captain; Alexander would circle to the far side of the ship.
“Navigation?”
“Sir?”
“Set an immediate course to Skylark now.”
“YES SIR.”
One of the other Tech-Knights would rise from his chair, his voice bitter.
“Sir, what of the planet bellow?”
Alexander would face the Tech-Knight and shake his head.
“Spiral HQ has issued a Priority-One order to rescue the Skylark and as Knights were are inclined to follow such orders. Besides, I believe that Eos and Cradle are somehow linked.”
With that said the engines of the Blazing Sun ignited a perfect blue flame and began to propel the ship through the space that surrounded it. As the Planet Eos grew smaller the questions of what was happening were growing larger.

Here I will let people make decision on what happens next by largest vote.
A: The Blazing sun arrives before Skylark crashes. (aka crashing in progress)
B: The Blazing sun arrives after Skylark crashes.
Ok, looks like option a wins. As chapter 1 was a bit short the new chapter will be an extension onto it.

It is one of the many great stories in the forums so far. Seatus u should put in an app for urself.

Everything would get kind of complicated for a new one to the forums at this point.
Sorry guys, I want to ensure I am still writing this but have been nailed down due to my exams that are coming up in less than a month.
As Cradle began to fade in from the void of space the crew of the Blazing Sun prepped themselves for what may lay on the other side of the planet. The thunderous sound of the engines died as the ship began to float freely in its inertia towards the edge of Cradle. As they drew nearer the planet familiarities with Eos began arise, but the most notable similarity was an unmistakable aura that smothered the planet. After five minutes of mindless floating the Skylark began to come into sight of the Blazing Sun. The hull of the Skylark began to tear and rip like fine cloth as it was pulled closer and closer towards the planet. The crew watched in horror as Alexander stared deeply at the distressed ship.
“Captain!” One of the Tech-Knights would shout at Alexander, whose attention would draw back to the moment at hand. With a grim realisation he ordered the crew to prep ships ready to collect passengers. One of the Tech-Knights would be at a terminal in utter confusion. A intense diagram of the inner working of the Skylark would be displayed with orange and purple arrows pointing into its power core. Something wasn’t right.
“Sir, you might want to look at this!” The Tech-Knight shouted from his terminal and the captain began to dispense from the crowd of Knights reading their positions to assist the Skylark.
“What is it, Michaels?” Alexander would have a stern and dominating voice as he gazed at the display.
“Well sir, during the transmission it was said that the Skylark’s power core was going into Drive Meltdown, yes?” Michaels spoke at a rate that was far too rapid for someone not accustom to his way of speaking.
“What of it?” The Captain was sceptical.
“You see sir, during Drive Meltdown power is forced from the core at terminal speeds and amounts.”
“But?”
“But that is not the case; instead power is being forced into the core rather than out.”
“Just like Eos.” The Captain made a swift conclusion which the Tech-Knight nodded in an overdramatic way.
“Indeed you are correct sir. But that is not all. The Planet Cradle, like its sister planet is also creating an exact same effect.”
“What does that mean?” The Captain’s voice emitted a sense of distress.
“In short when two such forces are together they create a singularity which can pull the two entities towards each other.”
“You mean the Skylark is being ‘pulled’ in toward Cradle?”
“That is exactly correct sir, if we-” Before the Tech-Knight could finish his sentence a blinding yellow coloured light swept through the entire ship, silence filled the halls and the Captain began to pan his head around the ship.
“Sir! Intense Bio-Tech scan! It came from the planet bellow!”
To be continued…
