Okay the earth hour is coming and i humbly ask everyone to off there lights at 8:30 PM in 23rd march. It would also be nice if the GM's off the server's at 8:30 pm( there time of course). Thank you and hope you off your lights !!!!!
Knights, save earth!
I meant on the specific time and date, silly.
I meant on 8:30 PM in 23rd March, silly.
Wow, what people won't resort to in order to help reduce global warming. Because you do know that this won't actually stop coal/oil/natural gas from being burned at the electric plants, right?
Let them believe what they wish to believe.
After all...
If they believe in IT enough, it shall be true
Right up to the point it is not.
@Fleet-Miss-Gun Shame on you! can't even care for the thing which made you to come in existence!
@Irthan I might not be a genius but it does have a effect if a power plant is offed it shall reduce emission which prevent the depletion of the ozone layer and if a person offs the light he saves it and that same light can be used after the time so a little load shall come off from the environment.
@Ghret if you would planet a tree rather then being a critic it would do better same for irthan and fleet.
i want to help but i need help.
how do i off the lights? D:
they produce electricity non stop. if you use it or not, it's you choice, but they still produce it even when a technician cut your lights out. if you want to turn off the plant, go get a bomb.
Let's assume that all the lights in the world can receive electricity from any power plant on the planet. Let us assume that there is no cost or time duration involved in shutting down or starting up a power plant. Let us assume that consumption of the resource a power plant uses stops as soon as it is shut down, and does not resume until it starts up. Then and only then would this have an effect. The problem is that every single one of those assumptions are false.
You may as well be protesting for a worldwide ban on DHMO.
"Off" is used as a colloquialism for killing.
Therefore... we must kill the lights.
Preferably in their sleep.
There is absolutly NO proof that the ozone layer is depleting. What IS true is that yes, the Earth is gradually heating up, BUT, it is just natural. The Earth goes through a cycle in which over a course of thousands and thousands of years, the Earth either heats up, or cools down by a couple of degrees. So carbon has less than one percent of an effect on the atmosphere. It's all just earth doing its natural thing.
Class dismissed.
@Im-Back:
The upswing has never been this dramatic nor this extreme.
But turning out the lights is not the solution.
Turning the lights is more of a symbol. Like a silent protest (that won't change the minds of the whole world anyways)
It exists to make you feel better so you can say that at least you tried :P
@ Thunder-the-Bright: I would, but OOO nerfed them.
@ Im-Back: Except, you know... hard evidence gathered from a great many different natural indicators measured by actual scientists.

NASA seems to be a pretty legit source, if you ask me.
@ OP: Eh... The intention's good, but turning off your lights/electricity won't actually conserve any energy. Power plants and refineries run constantly and your own personal energy consumption has little to no effect on how much they churn out. Granted, you'll probably save some money on your electricity bill, but you won't actually make ANY positive environmental impact. You'll need to do something much MUCH bigger and much MUCH more long-term than simply flicking off a light switch to do even the most minute conservation effort.
Try inventing cold fusion instead.
And I thought India had the highest amount of PhD's.....
CURSE YOU INTERNET FOR LIEING
Why are we arguing about global warming in 2013? >.<
I think the earth is fine, but there's something wrong with the sun! I'm not a scientist, but I'm fairly sure that son-of-a-dog is where all the heat is coming from.
When I burn my toast, I don't blame the bread.
The upswing has never been this dramatic nor this extreme.
...In the last millennia.
Just thought I'd fix that for ya, it has been this "dramatic" or "Extreme" before.
Regardless, turning off our lights or OOO inconveniencing the many reasonable customers will make no difference.

The people who can't tell us what the weather will be like three weeks from now are the same people telling us that the earth is going to be destroyed by global warming within the next few hundred years/millennia.
Does anybody see the irony?
Develop effective geothermal energy source.
Help buy into various solar energy systems.
Put up a windmill in your backyard.
Develop community of homesteaders/neo-homesteading groups.
Spread efficiency and FUND it.
The above moves far more mountains, than flickin a stupid switch.
I just turn on the lights at 8:30 PM in 23rd march because I don't follow any kind of days.
Sorry I need to turn my lights on, it's too useful for me to turn off in even a single second.
