Just a little something I have thought about for a year now. Nothing big, nothing game-changing, just good old E-peen fodder.

An option to:

  1. Run a mission with a time limit.
  2. Run a mission with a stopwatch

First one's obvious, you get in there and don't have all day to sit around idle. The time limits would be hard and once you pass it, the mission counts as failed. You'd have to pay the energy for the entire mission in advance and, if successful, you get some kind of reward. Maybe special "Time tokens" or, if it is a boss mission, 1 or 2 additional boss tokens. What the time tokens are for, I do not know, and I honestly don't care. They could be for nothing and just given out now, while OOO thinks of some lame colour-swap costumes that can be bought with them. It's just about giving something out to have and collect, while also presenting a new challenge.

The second one is rather obvious as well. You start at 0:00:00:00 (h:m:s:ms) and then you run. Like hell. And when you finished, you get your time, always trying to beat that one hacker that beat the whole FSC in 30 minutes. Because no one could do that and that guy has to be cheating to be that fast, right?
Except for the "All-Time Leaderboard" there would be a "weekly Leaderboard" and "a guild Leaderboard" (has to be bought with crowns). For the weekly one there could be some sort of reward, that I didn't think through, because I am not that interested in it.
And let's be honest, nothing motivates a community of post-endgame players more than the vanity of having their name posted somewhere for everyone to see, so why not just roll with it?

Nope

Not at all. In fact, I REALLY disliked the Winterfest mission with it's whole carry this shtuff from A to B. It's fine to do that additionally, but has little in common with my suggestion. Sure, the first one is "make it in time" but not "make it in time while being slow and unnecessarily handicapped". His idea centers about "being handicapped" mine focuses about the time aspect. He even stated that the time aspect was changeable, while I am all about the time limit being the difficulty.
Also, the second one is a complete different story.

When I said time aspect being changeable, I meant the time needed to complete the level would have to be adjusted, as throwing some arbitrary number on there in a Suggestion wouldn't make sense.

Not that it might not exist.

And being "unnecessarily" handicapped in a time attack level, just adds to the difficulty.

Just wanted to clear that up.

No offence

I just don't like having my hands tied behind my back to make something more difficult. It's a possible option, but I am rooting for a pure Time Attack, without such restrictions.
First one makes sense, but doesn't change that we are aiming for different things. I don't know why Irthan brought it up in the first place.

Yes

And I like yours even less. What's so hard to understand about "I don't like the concept of being held down by something"? Is there something specific you want me to elaborate on?

I don't know why Irthan brought it up in the first place.

Probably because it's the only other thread recently with a time attack element? Seems relevant to me.

Either way, time attack is cool.

maybe, but only if they put a

maybe, but only if they put a reason to why you have a time limit, or to why you need to finish the mission as quickly as possible. maybe you need to rescue a group of knights before the gremlins can set a deadly trap. maybe a group of knights in the clockworks need a shipment of spare parts before they deactivate.

Whe does there need to be a reason?

Honestly, it would be a completly different mode just to get running and compare e-peens.
Also, "reason" get in the way with time. I can't see the text in FSC anymore and by now I couldn't care less about whatever Vanaduke does there. I don't run FSC for the story, because I have heard it a bazillion times by now. Which is another aspect to time trial - you run a story mission over and over, do you repeat history every time? No, you've done it once and every time after that is just for the kicks. Or money, in this case.

That's the simple concept, you beat a mission, lived through the story and the next time you get the option just to run through it and hone your skills.
