good question

It's actually a fair question, when you consider that a rocket-powered hammer is a sword in this game.

"Sword" is a name for a category of weapons that actually in most games are named "Melee".
In SK, a "Sword" category includes:
- Double-edged swords - For example Calibur, Brandish or Sealed Sword
- Single-edged swords (like scimitar, sabre, katana) - For example Cutter, Spur or Nightblade
- Rapiers - For example Flourish
- Axes (including pickaxes) - For example Hatchet or Beast Basher
- Hammers - For example Thwack Hammer or Rocket Hammer
- Maces - For example Robo Wrecker or Wrench Wand
- Shovels - For example Slime Slasher

Why is this category called "Sword" instead of "Melee" is beyond my comprehension though.

I can't believe someone would ask this, but I agree with Bopp. It's fair because weapons like hammers, shovels, toothpicks, sticks, etc... are actually different

Why it's not Melee:

They're Swords instead of Melee, because if they were Melee, then none of this stuff would quite fit right.

Honestly, I bet most of you can figure out what swords I mean without even checking those links.

@Possiblespy

It's not like definition of "sword" imply ranged attacks any more then definition of "melee" /facepalm
So no, word "sword" doesn't make ranged charged attack fit any more or less then word "melee".

Hardly. It doesn't make sense to call some of the weapons there "Swords", which is the point of the thread.

Skyguarder: It's fair because weapons like hammers, shovels, toothpicks, sticks, etc... are actually different

Rapiers are a type of sword, albeit with a different method of attack. I don't know what you mean by "sticks".

Here's a question; is there a better name for this class of weapons, aside from "Melee"?
